Cattle are brought in in winter because of the damage to the ground they cause mate .If they roamed free it would be different but concentrated together they ‘poach ‘the ground .Also makes for easier feed control when the grass is less nutritional .

You are dead right Paul ,my kit is now dated but I don’t feel the need to spend out another 4 K to spot what I can spot with the xq38 .I’ll leave that to the dedicated followers of fashion . Any thermal image depends on a few factors .How well insulated the animal is and foxes seem to lose heat fast with only the head really glowing bright white . There was one recorded in Gloucester I believe ,right under someone’s nose .???? From memory you can hear background noises unexpected in the UK countryside like turning the sound on and off .Not that a leopard grunting is common place either ,just for the record .?? Anyway was shite .
