  1. Half brother to the Sire, started at 19 months and was mute throughout, never made 3 years old.
  2. These are different to that mate, they usually start between 14 - 18 months, some are flyers and just work and work and some like I said are two step forwards one step back, it's just the way they are. But like I say I've not seen one yet that doesn't get better in their second season, they really seem to kick on and just work away after that. Good luck with yours too!
  3. Black neck I'll have pics of some first crosses somewhere, what's your point?
  4. I agree, it all falls down to personal experiences. From what I've personally seen, the Saluki/Greyhound types were the best all round lurcher, but to show I'm not breed blind, the best lurcher i've been out on a days digging with was a first cross Bull / Grey. Safe off the lead, safe with terriers, safe with sheep, could jump and was game as any dog I've seen.
  5. We'll agree to disagree. I've seen more than 2, but there was 2 I seen regular, every weekend and a couple of nights mid week against Saluki/ Greyhound bred dogs.
  6. They must have been unfit or shit bred.
  7. The only dogs I've seen be straight lined by Roe were bull crosses mate. Once they get their arse down they're some animal.
  8. As many as I think they're capable of mate. Some are late to mature, some are slow to put it all together, some won't push on, some are too hard etc, it's endless. I could dig them 3 times or I could dig them 20 times. The only thing that's certain is that they'll be here next Summer as the second season is when they come into their own, or at least that's what I've seen so far from this blood.
  9. Listen mate, they were well bred, well looked after animals. They just simply didn't have the stamina or the speed. And I'm not saying they didn't have the effort there, they were full of effort, but when we had them out with our Saluki or Greyhound bred lurchers it was like me chasing Mo Farah.
  10. No they were as fit as can be, seen them get totally outrun daytime by all quarry, and at night by most. Not questioning their gameness and I don't keep lurchers now so no kennel blindness involved. But they simply ain't got the wind or speed a lurcher with more greyhound or Saluki has.
  11. I've seen a couple and they weren't my cup of tea tbh, no stamina and basically for one job. Not what I would class as a lurcher if I'm honest.
  12. Pair of young bitches approaching a year old and hopefully ready for the season.
  13. Seen a lot lately that are coming black but with grey down the back and also ginger in places, maybe just the colour diluting or the old original Fell stuff coming back through?
  14. That top dog is a cracker Wedgey, can't pick a fault with it.
  15. Gotta feel for the mother, they're almost as big as her!
  16. Good pic Apache, they both have a simlar look I think. Was there many blacks produced from Parksy dogs, I always assumed they were predominantly reds?
  17. Like my buddy says, "the emptier the can, the louder the noise". Rings true every time.
  18. Lucky escape there Bosun. all's well that ends well!
  19. Sounds good, just don't let Sean Frain put it together FFS!?
  20. Once bitten twice shy. I've had my fingers burnt a couple of times and severed all ties. This type of thing comes back round full circle in the end.
  21. Some scum bags about. Seen this sort of thing happen plenty of times unfortunately. Hope you get to the bottom of it.
