  1. Be careful buying a second hand manual. There have been so many changes recently that anything more than a year old is useless for sitting the RSPH. Save up and buy the latest version.
  2. Somebody's mother, grandmother or aunt, and you say that. No matter what you thought of her politics, comments like that are shameful.
  3. When those 'kids' you talk about are actually teenagers, then that's a good thing. I can well remember rubbish piled up in the streets, and the three day week. What was it all for? Certain workers were demanding a pay rise of 35% over inflation, and held the country to ransom for it. She told everyone that she wouldn't allow it to happen again; and she didn't. If she was so terrible, how did she never lose an election? I'll tell you how; the majority of the electorate at that time benefited from her strong leadership at a time when the alternative was the loonie Foot, and then th
  4. She was honest Banter, and stood up for what she believed in, either right or wrong. The latest shower of spineless twats are dishonest beyond belief, and would sell their souls at the drop of a hat. Can you imagine Maggie taking a million pound bribe from LACS??
  5. If we had politicians like that today hunting wouldn't have been outlawed. The shallow, vain twats like Blair and Cameron don't deserve to breath the same air as the likes of Maggie.
  6. Stood up for what she believed in Allowed millions to buy their own homes Didn't allow the unions to hold the country to ransom Got the economy sorted Played a major role in ending the cold war Threw the Argies out of the Falklands Didn't give Gibralta back to the Spanish Didn't let the Yanks bully her into needless conflict Got us a huge financial rebate from Europe Didn't allow the French and Germans a free hand to rule Europe Didn't give in to Terrorists in Ireland and lots, lots more. Why people think it's OK to celebrate the death of an old lady who has been out of power for 23 years is
  7. Try the Talpa. It's got just as much power, and is easier to set.
  8. You need to upload your photos to photobucket (free) and then post the IMG link on here. Full instructions can be found HERE (link)
  9. Rabid, you need to click on the picture first, and then select the IMG code from the box on the lower right hand side. Read the instructions and look at the screenshots in the link above.
  10. Am I right in thinking that the guy who actually made the snares went to work for AB country products OTC? I'm pretty sure I remember having a conversation with Fenn at the time they stopped making snares and the reason given was that "the man that makes them has left"...
  11. Educate the customer, bin the boxes, and burrow bait. Bait the burrows, block them up, and do visits every other day until the holes stop getting reopened. Also think about the public about feeding the ducks. Who is the expert? You or the customer? Perfectly safe to burrow bait in a situation like this. The ducks are more at risk from the rats than from carefully placed rodenticide.
  12. It's because the people who first tested them had no idea about traps Tom I suspect a change to the STAO is imminent.
  13. Does that go for mole catching as well? Good point. I suppose it should; but as there is no nationally recognised qualification in mole catching, that's one that can wait. But......... what about the other stuff that goes with it? Risk Assessments, Safe Systems of Work etc? They're all legally required....... Happily, one of the nice things about mole catching is the lack of paperwork and regulation. For all that I've written above, I often wonder if the training and qualification regime has made pest control any safer, or dare I say it, more effective. I've just worked o
  14. It is possible to be self taught and qualified. I've been on lots, and lots of pest control and wildlife type training courses over the years, and have been lucky enough to gain most of the available qualifications in the UK. A qualification is just a way of proving that you have retained the knowledge to a high enough standard to pass a test of some sort. Training courses can be very good, although they can also be very bad. Many years ago I sat the old BPCA part one. Some of the lads (more than one) were so thick that they had to have it explained to them where to write th
  15. Neither. Break backs for me every time. Options are: Standard wooden break backs Modified Pro-Victors (excellent) T-Rex type Snap-E type (what I usually use) Fenns are great in certain situations, as are Bodygrippers. It just depends on the set.
  16. Here ye go Click here for simple instructions on using Photobucket.
  17. Here ye go: Click here to read thread on uploading photos
  18. Dead easy. Click on the photo and a little box comes up underneath it and on the right hand side. Click on the IMG code and it automatically copies the link onto your clipboard. In the Reply box, either press CNRL + V or right click and paste, and the link will come up.
  19. Wasn't there something similar on Rabbiters a couple of years ago? I would speak to the BASC or whichever organisation you are a member of, and ask about lodging a formal complaint about their behaviour. No need for heavy handed tactics, or brow beating you into doing what they want if you haven't broken any laws. Most of the shooting kids I've met have grown up to be the most well adjusted and sensible people in society.
