So are you backing out now ? At least we will have run two competitions; you on the other had have talked about running one for two days, and now appear to be having second thoughts ! I wish the bookies were having odds on who will be running a lamping competition next season; I know who my money WOULDN'T be on ! LOL ! Cheers.

We probably see it the same way, Joe. I was asked to judge... I did, and under the rules, that was the result ! None of us were happy about it, but the two guys agreed and shook hands, end of, as far as I'm concerned ! The lunatic Whin reckons he can do better and is running the comp next year; best of luck to him ! Cheers.

At the end of the day, the dogs had seven slips each, on rabbits, one dog caught five the other dog caught four, the dog that caught the most wins. Thats the rules ! Was I happy with it ? No.... I would have far rather seen 30 slips each, but that didn't happen. Maybe Whin can put on a better show next year. Cheers.

Yes Joe, it was the Northern Final, but not the final of the competition. Both lads shook hands at the end and accepted the result. SH has allready posted saying "don't even go there with re-runs", so they both accepted what happened on the night. It's not allways that the best dog, man, team or whatever, wins...it's what happens on the night, and Tony and Danny both accept what happened on the night, so thats the decission. Could it have been better... of course, but things are never perfect. Cheers.

Of course it's disapointing Joe, but that wasn't the final. I was asked to judge on the morning of the heat, as LDR had been let down. I had no say over the land or the amount of game available; I just gave my time to help out with the competition. I explained this to SH and apologised to him, even though I had no need to. I hope the final has tons of rabbits and realy tests the dogs ! Cheers.

LOL !!!! I'm still the right side of 60, (just) !!!! And I puff and pant abit; but still get out day and night, and still keep up, (just), with the young'uns !!! Still a bit life in me yet !!!! Cheers.

You know, I can't be arsed arguing with you anymore ! It's just going round in circles ! I've entered this comp both years, travelled many, many miles to run, had people stay at my house on a few occasions, judged heats and generaly tried to make it a success. What have you done ???? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, except run it down and brag how you would run it better, well this is definately the last post from me; I'll leave it to the people reading it to judge. Cheers. Thats just it !! "On what you've been told" !!! You wern't in the comp, never judged a heat or even seen one, but you feel qualified to make judgments about something you know nothing about ! Well, you'll have your chance this year, when you run your competition, as I say, best of luck !! Cheers.

Whin, it's NOT the people who entered the comp that are moaning and spoiling it. It's people like yourself, Micheal (mark), and others who DIDN'T enter, who feel the need to come on here and run the competition down ! You will find out when you run your comp next year ! Cheers.

Max, thats exactly what we have been discussing; 8 or 16 of us, invite only, from around the north, and keep it quiet. Whin can run a nationwide comp and have all the crabbers and moaners ! Cheers.

Aye, I'm hoping my pup will find the deer I shoot, aswell !! LOL !! Been doing a bit of shooting down the country, had my first go last year on the geese, done well !! Also had a few days on the pheasants and parties, and, dare I say it, on the hares !! Much rather see a dog behind them, but can't turn the invites down !! Cheers. 'Billy !!! I'll probably get shit for this; but it'll be kids !! Nobody with even the slightest experience would steal ferrets at this time of year, especially as people have said, you can get them for free if you look around ! The law is slowly changing about what force you can use if some one is burgling your house, it should be changed to allow you to kill anyone who enters your yard to thieve your animals !!!! Cheers.

Agree.I think the hassle these lads have had is bang out of ORDER.A lot of time and effort goes into the comp.Why sit in hindsight and say i could have done better.I just dont get it Let me just say, this is LDR's competition, he runs it and makes all the decisions ! I help in any way I can, as do other lads, getting trophies, using their land, etc. It's a shame some arseholes can't help but complain; especialy when they didn't even enter ! Anyone who has entered and has a complaint will be heard and their complaints taken on board...but for christs sake, give the lad some credit for or

Well, thats part of the problem; "you can only go on what you got told" !!! I;m a firm believer in "never believe what your told, and only half what you see" !! Actually I'm talking to someone on the 'phone at the minute, who I consider one of the best dog people in the country, and I think I'll take their advise, and just keep doing what i do, and ignore the idiots ! Nah mate, it's only one or two uneducated know alls who are crabbing !! I've met and had some great nights out with lads from ths comp, Mally, The Bolt, Farmer1, Lamp + Battery, Dogs + Natives, Single handed and his mate, Woodga, Dotty, and others. I've had people stay at my house, and I've stayed at their houses. There is a lot more goes on behind the scenes than is told on these sites !! Cheers.

LDR didn't "try" to do it; he did it ! Last years comp was run off and this years will be ! I'll help as much as I can until it's finished. Yes there has been problems, thats what happens when ordinary working guys try to run a nationwide competition on a friendly, relaxed basis. Poeple like yourself, with vast expeirience, should be helping, not crabbing ! All I can say, is the actual running in the comp and meeting some top lads has been great; far better than reading all the shit that has been posted by people who didn't have the bottle to enter in the first place ! As I say; good luck with it mate !! LDR didn't have the backing of all those "names" that you seem to have ! He only had a few lads like himself to try and give other lads what they wanted, a lamping competition ! He has had abusive phone calls and texts, as have I, and had to put up with all the crabbers and know alls, like yourself; no wonder he is pissed off with it !! Fill your boots,mate, I honestly hope you make a success of next years competition, but be prepared for all the naysayers , like yourself, who will find fault at any opportunity ! Cheers.

last years cubs, maybe. We were out the other night and there were pleanty foxes about; had a couple come running in, but another pair had other things on their minds, and took no notice of any squeaking we did !!!! We were out for rabbits, by the way ! Cheers.
