  1. Sorry, read it wrong, but your amperages seem a bit high for a shed. Cheers.
  2. I wired my laundry room extension into the house supply, then ran a fused spur to the kennel, but, BEWARE that you do not overload it. you must use the correct size cable, both for load and length of cable run, the correct amperage fused spur, etc. It's easy enough to physicaly install, but in any doubt, consult an electrician. Cheers.
  3. Hey Witton, keep asking the questions, mate. I've been in this game over 40 years and still ask questions/advice. Duckwing, not having a go mate, just a little story from an old computer illiterate; When I was talking to my daughter on MSN, she asked why was I shouting ? I asked what are you on about ? She said take the caps lock off !!! It's considered shouting or patronising in computer speak. Cheers.
  4. Hi, Markbrick; I run a 4 x 4, live in a Barratt house and am going to a shoot tomorow, but I'll be beating !! (and giving the lurcher a run between beats !), don't lump everyone in together. It's a pheasant shoot, not a hare shoot, which I disagree with, simply 'cause I love to see a dog on a hare, not a 12 bore ! Cheers.
  5. The sire to my pup is Pat Blewitts "Flynn", he's a 1st X Beddy/Grey from Heartbreak Fell kennell, and a top allrounder. My pups Dam is deer/grey-whipet/grey, but as you can see in the photo, she has thrown to her sires side. Cheers.
  6. I buy lot's of gear from the states, never had any bother, BUT, allways had it sent by air, a few days to a couple of weeks, but if your stuff is coming by tramp steamer, could be up to 6 months !!!. You should only pay customs duty if the goods cost over £140, and then only if the sender declares the cost on the green sticker. Cheers.
  7. They were bailing silage today in North Yorkshire !!! Cheers.
  8. I go onto Gin's permission now and again, and I commented on the absence of hares, he told me the farmers shot them all as they were sick of having to round up the cattle off the A19 after the lampers had been and left all the gates open. Sad but true. Cheers.
  9. Not having a go, world.hunter, but she could do with a good brushing/combing out, looking at those photo's. Cheers.
  10. I feel really sorry for the lad and more so for the dog, I hope it makes a full recovery, but at 12 y.o. it's harder to recover from injury. As to the on/off lead debate; the lad said the dog was around the corner, out of sight of his dad, who only knew of the accident when he heard the dog yelp. In that case it could have been a paper boy, postman, milkman, someone on their way to work, etc. The moral of the story is keep your dog on the lead. Harsh but true. Cheers.
  11. It all started when I was 13, my older brother brought home a racing whippet pup, but as he was 4 years older than me, he soon discovered more interesting things, girls and booze !!! The pup passed to me and I had a fair bit of success racing it. We used to walk home from the local tracks across the feilds and at the time they were teeming with hares and soon the hare coursing meant more than the racing. Later I started lamping, an old car spot lamp and a motor bike battery from the scrap yard. Owned a few more whippets but the racing was in decline and we were more into hunting, so it seemed
  12. Not sure if this IS a wind up, but if you've had dogs all your life you should know that ANY dog can be kept outside, providing it has a dry, damp and draught free kennel. Cheers.
  13. With deference to you D.S. I know the owners of the sire and dam of my dog and know both dogs are workers. The Bedlington in my pup came from Breakheart fell kennel and the deerhound in her was from working lines. I don't understand your comment about deerhounds being available to the "likes of us", why not ? There are people on this site who have well bred , working deerhounds available for stud, like wise working bedlingtons. The point of my comment was that I would like to know the breeds in the makeup of any pup I was buying so I could have an idea of how it might turn out. When you are to
  14. Just cause your mates dog takes 'em day but not night, don't beleive him that this is the norm. EVERY dog that I've seen do them in the day, doe's them at night aswell. I'ts possible that there is dogs like your mates, but I haven't seen one. Cheers.
  15. I, personlly, would not buy a pup that was only advertised as "Lurcher to Lurcher". I would have to know the breeds in it's make up, not neccasarilly the exact percentages. Why ? I would not want collie or bull in my pup, before anyone jumps on me, it's just my preferance, nothing wrong with those crosses. My latest lurcher could be considered a "bitza", but I know her exact breeding, beddy/grey x deer/grey - whippet/grey, which is just the breeds I wanted in a pup, (wouldn't of minded a bit saluki, either). Obviously, some breeders will say anything or tell you what you want to hear, so best
  16. I was pulled by three blokes with shotguns on the feilds behind my house, they threatened to give me a hiding and shoot my dogs. Two things were in my favour, I had just come back from 26 years in the Middle East, when someone points a gun at you out there, they mean it !! I could see that two of these guys weren't really up for it and the other one was just a gobby c**t showing off, secondly, I knew that the local council owned the land and had a strict no shooting, no hunting policy, anyway I phoned the council, who shit themselves and visited the farmer who leases the land and threatened to
  17. Stopped buying it after the bother they had with Foxgun Tom, et al. Cheers.
  18. Hey Vandal, wouldn't mind the Polack one, I'm about a 46" chest, would it fit, how much do you want mate ? Cheers.
  19. Torchwood, in these days of the "ban" , etc, you must understand a bit of paranoia. If you are a genuine guy, put up some pics or stories or a tale or two. If you are new to the game, say what you hope to acheive. Don't leap into threads you have just read about. I'm willing to give you the benifit of the doubt, but believe us ; if you are not genuine, you will be found out. Cheers.
  20. I don't know the criteria for joining now, but most hunting sites want new members to be verified by existing members to keep the anti's out. Doe's anyone know "Torchwood" ? Hate to sound paranoid, but his only post has been to have a go at a member. We've all been guilty of that ! But not in our first posts !! IAN, have a look, mate. Cheers.
  21. Yes, unless you know something different !! If he is a cuckoo in the nest, I think the admin should look into it !! Yes, Markbrick can come over as a pratt and a know it all, but at least he is honest and genuinly doe's a bit, better him than some a hole trying to cause trouble !! Cheers.
  22. So, not allowed to ask a genuine question then ? As I said, I was reading through articles and saw a lot of praise about showing and simulated coursing, just wondering how his dogs are faring now the hunting seasons been here a while... Torchwood, not really a genuine question, more like jumping on a bandwagon, (extremly late !!), lots of people had a go at Markbrick, but give him his due, he took it and gave as good as he got; dosen't need some newbie raking up the past. How about posting something YOU have done ? Cheersw.
