Well, I'll never tire of putting this pic up on Deer/Grey threads, as I think she is a good example ! 18 month old, 29" and around 75lb ! Doing exactly as I would want and expect at this stage;
Cheers.
I can't imagine a Foxhound adding anything to a Lurcher breed, but if you insist, then you should use a Fell Hound, which, after all has a good bit Greyhound blood in their lines. And, eventualy, will come back to you !!
Cheers.
Baldyback Courser; you obviously started this thread to get a reaction...and you DID ! But to have a go at women Lurcher owners is just wrong ! I don't know many, in fact theres only one or two who I class as REAL dog women, and Moll is one of them; at least she has dogs and works them regularly, unlike most who jump in on these threads !
Cheers.
It's the HUNTING life, not the LURCHER hunting life. I look on the terrier section and the shooting section as well as other sections; so why shouldn't they look on the Lurcher section ?
Cheers.
Getting back on topic.... Of course a Lurcher will kill a coyote; aren't Coyote Dogs, Roo dogs , Staghounds, etc, just Lurchers, (albeit bred for the job), anyway ?
Cheers.
I got this book because I honestly believe it will become a classic ! I have a 1st edition of Walshes "The English Whippet" and Douglas-Todds "The Whippet" which are already classics and collectors books, as well as being very good reads! £35 may have seemed a lot, but it will only improve in value.
Cheers.
In ten years time, I hope I'm still around !! LOL !! But I know what you mean, but there will still be lads who will be breeding the gear to do the job. There probably will not be working Deerhounds, (are there any now ?), but if the best Deer X's we have now are bred properly, there is no reason the good stuff should die out !
Cheers.
No competitions for me mate ! LOL ! The black dog in the pic beat my lamping bitch in the THL comp two years in a row !!! So I just do it for the fun now ! It's just good to see people getting interested in Deer X's again !
Cheers.
HA HA !! We all THINK we have the best dogs, mate, but there are some VERY good dogs out there !! I'm just glad the Deer X's seem to be making a comeback !! Good luck with your pup !!
Cheers.
Is your pup by "Doxhope Knights Errant" ? If so, I have a bitch pup by him, out of Rivington Ena, 17 month old, and I couldn't be happier with her. She's doing everything I want of her at this age, and is exactly as I imagined her to be.
Cheers.
Chimp; send me your bank account number, sort coad, and your mothers maiden name, and I'll send you a fiver, just to keep the thread going, of course !
Cheers, Mr. Onyongo from Nigeria .
If you can see a problem with the foot and she is lifting it; then there is obviously something wrong. Take her to the vet, 'cause it MUST be affecting her running, even though you can't see it ! Leaving it will only make things worse. Hope it gets sorted.
Cheers.
Correct.
An even earlier one gives the best description of a course iv ever heard.
I think it was about 12th century.
As when thy impatient greyhound slipped from afar
Bounds o'er the glade to course the fearful hare
She in her speed does all her safety lie
He with double speed pursues his prey
Over runs her at the sitting turn
Yet licks his chaps in vain
But blows upon the flux
She seeks the shelter that the neighbouring covert gives
wheres this one from mate ?thanks
And gaining it she doubts if yet she lives.
