I saw in my local Asda that legs of lamb now have security tags on them like bottles of spirits ! Pork is still cheap, beef is still relatively affordable, why is lamb so expensive ? Cheers.

Never mind the price of bread; I've just been informed mine and my wife's combined pension is going up by less than £6 a week.........and our gas/electric is going up £60 a month ! Cheers.

Looks to me that Russia is attempting to "join the dots" ; Southern Russia, Crimea, Ukraine, Belarus and Kaliningrad , isolating the Baltic countries Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia and Finland, and giving itself an unbroken border from the Baltic to the Black Sea and creating a bulwark against EU and NATO expansion. But hey, I'm not an expert in global real politik, I just can't think of any other reason for Putins behaviour. Cheers.

No, but I've seen some nice ones, both smooth and wire haired. I know the Australians use them in pig dog crosses, but I've never understood how a breed that has centuries of training not to run in or chase could have any positive effect in lurcher breeding, but I know some people swear by them, just my own opinion. Of the HPR's, I like GWP, Wiemaraner, Vistula, but I've never been temped to go down the gundog route, a decent lurcher does everything I need ? Cheers.

I was gifted a Saluki in saudi, and when it died, the guy sent me a Doberman as a replacement. Not a breed I would otherwise have had, but it would have been churlish and disrespectful to have refused it. It turned out a very nice dog and I brought it home to the UK. It gets a mention in one of Darcy's books, flushing roe to Bruce and Delta. Even caught the odd rabbit. Cheers.

Apple have stopped selling in Russia and disabled Apple Pay and removed Russia Today and Sputnik News from its App Store. Might not seem much but Russia is getting more and more isolated. Cheers.

And they deserve every penny, and more ! Hard working heroes, the lot of them ! I mean, just look at Dianne Abbott, just today when she was interviewed about the war in Ukraine, she insisted on calling it Croatia ! We can all sleep safe in our beds at night knowing that people like her are taking care of our interests ! ? ! Cheers.

Don't forget,Putins original excuse for invading , and still is his excuse, was to protect the Russian speaking Ukrainians in the "breakaway" regions. If he carpet bombs the entire country indiscriminately into submission that will prove his motive was a lie. Cheers.

I'm certainly no military expert, but that forty mile Russian armoured column wouldn't last five minutes against NATO air power. Remember the Iraqi armoured column , it was like shooting fish in a barrel ! Putin is finding it harder than planned against Ukraine, it would be a hell of a lot harder if he tries it against a NATO country. Cheers.

Saudi is already at war with Iran; they're fighting a proxy war in Yemen. Iran is backing, training and supplying the Houthi rebels, and saudi is giving air support to the Yemeni government forces. The UK is involved by supplying ordinance and training to the Saudi Airforce. I would imagine the Russians have given their backing to Iran. I don't know the reasons for the war......ideology, religion, ( Shiite v Sunni),territorial expansion, control of the strait of Hormuz ? Cheers.

"Whistle while you work, Putin is a twerp, He's half barmy, So's the Red Army, Whistle while you work !" "Vot iz your name , boy ? " "Don't tell him, Bob " Oops........??? Cheers.

GB v Belarus World Cup basketball game at Newcastle Eagles venue called off. Belarus visas cancelled. Cheers.

My missus said roughly the same to me, so I simply explained a few things; 1: we are one of the five permanent members of the UN Security Council. 2: we are the worlds 5th biggest economy. 3: we have the 4th best military in the world. 4: we are a nuclear power. 5: we are one of the worlds biggest givers of overseas aid, per capita, ( quite wrongly in my mind, I think it is madness to borrow money to give away to overseas despots). 6: we are the worlds banking and financial centre. Not to bad for little old UK. ? Cheers.

I don't disagree with that, except for Argentina, they invaded sovereign British territory, populated by British people who's wish was to remain British, what I disagree with is "UK/USA bad.....Russia/China good " Theyve all done things we wouldn't be proud of, but on the whole, I'm pleased to be on the west side of the east/west divide. Cheers.

Ask the Tibetans and the Uighurs what they think about the Chinese. ? Cheers.

I'd say I am calm, and polite, and interested in reasonable discussion and debate ? As I said, I don't know the outcome , and I certainly don't know the reason for this disastrous situation, and I'd guess all the internet "experts " don't either, but it shouldn't stop us discussing it or having opinions. One thing that worries me, is, in the highly unlikely event of Russia invading the UK , there seems to be a few fitht columnists on here who would support Russia, rather than NATO, the West or even their own country. Cheers.

I didn't tell you about the worlds biggest producer of anything ! Why put words in my mouth ? I'm simply giving my opinion, as are everyone else. You may have far more knowledge of the situation than I have, and I'll respect your opinion, but give me the curtesy of at least listening to mine without misquoting me ? I enjoy the debate, especially on a subject as serious as this one , but I haven't a clue as to the outcome, that's way above any pay grade I may have reached ? Cheers.

There's videos of handing out AK47's to the general population, but however romantic and patriotic it looks, I doubt even 10% know how to lock, load and move the safety off ! My point was we can supply all the high tech weapon systems we want but they need the expertise to use it. I hope they do. I'd say, fairly certainly, that the west,( USA, UK, The Five Eyes ), are giving all the help they can with satellite surveillance, radio traffic, etc, but it seems to me that it's the boots on the ground that will win or lose this war. ? Cheers.

I'd never dream of trying to teach my granny to suck eggs, as I'm sure you'll know that one man with a shoulder held anti armour missile will take out a tank, and the ordinance we and the US are supplying Ukraine with are state of the art. Problem is, do they have enough of them and the expertise to use them ? Cheers.

I used to like your input when I was on here before, Wilf, and even now, although I may disagree with some of your opinions, I fully respect and defend your right to post them, ......but this post. ? Nah, mate, not for me. Cheers.

Not seen any of the dog pups yet. My last 1st x deer/grey bitch had the same deerhound breeding but was out of a racing bred Greyhound bitch and she made 29" and 75 pound. This bitch is slightly smaller but appears to have more "bone". Cheers.

The spokeswoman was on Sky News answering a question from a Sky reporter. The Winter War / Finnish - Russian War is easily found on line ? Cheers.
-
The Russian defence spokes woman has just said if Sweden and Finland try to join NATO they will get the same as Ukraine ! Maybe the Russians have forgot the Winter War, where they got what they wanted from the Finns, but it was a very Pyrrhic victory, with the Russians losing far, far more men and equipment than the Finns. If the invasion of Ukraine turns out to be an insurgency war, it could be history repeating itself ! Cheers.

Hey ! Stay out of it ! He's my project, difficult yes, a challenge yes, but I'm in it for the long haul ! I see something in him that I can nurture and educate to my way of thinking. You getting involved will only confuse matters ! ? ! Cheers.

You run hares, I can do that every day of the week, as you do, without too much hassle. The Communists in Russia, like Hitler, banned hunting, and the working Borzoi almost died out in Russia. Ive travelled the world, and loved every minute, but I don't believe the grass is allways greener on the other side. Im quite pissed off at the way things are going in the UK at the moment, but I remember the 50's living in a slum, then the great days of the 60's , then the Ted Heath days, the winter of discontent, the three day week, then the 80'sand the miners strikes, but all in all, li
