Hey ! Being pedantic is my job on here ! Cheers.

A “Diversity Festival”. I wonder how “diverse” the stabber was ? Cheers.

I don’t know about Trophy Parks, but in the wild if you kill the biggest and best it must affect the gene pool. Surely it’s the opposite of culling the weak to strengthen the gene pool…..isn’t it, or am I missing something ? Cheers.

…….time I was off with the dog and lamp, probably be back by Monday morning ! Cheers.

Never fancied working for IKEA, but their meatballs are nice and reasonably priced. ! Cheers.

The standard of life in both the UAE and Saudi is great. My daughter in law and my grandson live in Saudi and their family also have property in UAE and spend some time there. Of course you hear bad reports about how foreign workers are treated , but my family and I lived there for many years and loved it. Cheers.

Ah, ok ! Ive spent some time in the UAE, my daughter did part of her schooling there and lived and worked there as a manager of corporate accounts for Barclays in Dubai. Back then there were no taxes but they’ve followed Saudi and now have a 5% vat on certain things, there’s some other taxes like customs tax but there’s no income tax or national insurance or tax on fuel, etc. Goods were very cheap anyway so the vat didn’t really make much difference. Things are probably more expensive now, I haven’t been for a few years since I went over to see Hamad Ghunaims saluki centre.

It’s got to be something serious, he was sacked, not “left by mutual consent”. A mural of him with other pundits has be quickly removed from BBC House, and his agency, Satchis, have dumped him . Cheers.

In what respect mate ? Cheers.

Arrogant little shit. Not well liked in Newcastle. He said he left because “it was like living in a goldfish bowl”, him being the big star and everyone wanting a piece of him. He actually left for more money at Spurs. Cheers.

The “Laffer Curve” is interesting. To reduce it to absolute basics, if you start to tax people the income from that tax reaches a maximum at about 50% tax rate then as you tax more than 50%, tax revenues start dropping off and if you reach 100% tax the revenue is nil ! Im certainly no economist but I’m assuming once you start taxing people over a certain rate they simply leave and relocate to a place with a less punitive tax regime, or maybe reach a certain point and stop making more money as the time and effort isn’t worth it when the tax removes any incentive. I’ve got more important things on my mind than the state of the nation just now, it’s hatching time and I’m up and down like an expectant father ! Cheers.

And where does this clout and influence get the man on the street, as Wilf would say ? Poorer and colder is my guess, and your just about the last person in the world I’d of had down as a “virtue signaller”, but as you say, I must be naive, as I should have known you’d be opposite to what the rest are generally saying, you’ve got that rare knack of of changing the narrative even if someone agrees with you ! LOL ! I think this conversation has run its course , it’s been fun, but I’m out now . Play nice lads ! Cheers.

We produce less than 1% of the worlds carbon , but we are spending billions to make ourselves colder and poorer and destroying our manufacturing base. When we reach “Net Zero” it won’t make one iota of difference to the climate. We are spending billions of pounds on overseas aid, money that we are borrowing and paying interest on, and it won’t make one iota of difference to world poverty. Why are we doing this ? I haven’t a clue. Cheers.

What do we get in return for giving the Chinese Opera £200,000 ? Someone in the charity business said last night that one anti malaria injection costs £2, why couldn’t that money be spent on saving 100,000 lives instead of going to an opera in the worlds second richest country ? I found it hard to disagree. Cheers.

There was a case not long ago where we funnelled £40 million through some QANGO to build a series of Marie Stopes birth control centres in China. China has the worlds second biggest GDP, why can’t they pay for it themselves ? Another anomaly is that China is worried about its declining birth rate , so why are we building birth control centres for them ? There birth rate is falling without our help, unless it’s some cunning plan to reduce their population to a point where we won’t actually have to go to war with them ! LOL ! Cheers.
-
David Cameron passed into law that we give .7% of our GDP in overseas aid ; Why ? Evidently the money we give to the likes of the Chinese Opera and the Ethiopian Spice Girls is because if there’s any money left in the overseas aid budget it has to be spent so they cast around looking where they can give it away ! Bit like the local council, spending all their budget just before the end of the financial year. There shouldn’t be ANY overseas aid budget, in my opinion, it should be added to the defence budget and used on a case by case situation in response do disaster relief. Chee

Where did you get that fact from mate ? I did a quick Google and we are the third biggest giver of overseas aid , per capita, in the world; But as someone once said, “there are lies, damned lies, and statistics “, so Google could be wrong ! LOL ! Cheers.

Interesting article on tv last night. Evidently we are in a “population trap”. That means we don’t have enough houses, hospitals, schools , etc or nurses, doctors, builders etc for the population as it is so we import people to do the jobs meaning we need even more houses, hospitals , school etc for the increasing population and we are in a vicious circle, chasing our tails and can never catch up. We need to build a new house every two minutes just to cater for the immigrants coming in without making a dent in the backlog shortage. Sort of a “catch 22”. Cheers.

Reminds me of the joke about the Geordie bloke who’s wife said to him as he was leaving the house to go to the match “I’m sure you think more of Newcastle than you do of me ! “ He replied “ I think more of bloody Sunderland than I do of you !”. Cheers.
-
He also won “Player of the Week” at a coaching course here last year; Hopefully the next time he is sitting here he’ll be signing his first contract for Newcastle ! LOL ! Cheers.

My nine year old grandson has just been accepted for a football academy in Saudi Arabia. His first competitive game his team won and he scored the winning goal and was “man of the match”; He insists he will play for Real Madrid one day but I said he should be aiming higher than that and I’d arrange a trial with Newcastle for him ! LOL ! Cheers.
-
Don’t think so, but I didn’t know him well. Just an aside, a great pal of mine married Jackie Milburns daughter and he said every one of the Milburns and Charltons hated him and completely ignored him when he was in their homes. The marriage didn’t last long ! Cheers
-
Yes you bloody are ! LOL ! Cheers.
