4 eggs upto press from this hen fingers crossed another 2. Be happy with a round of 6 for first round . Then will put them under feeders then let her sit the second round of eggs. Done this many times before it double the amount of young an gives you more of a chance of having a good rate come the moult. Keeps your stock up too , an have more to pick from come end of the season beginning of next year . For the novice breeder it's ideal to get your money back on birds also money you've put in for feed an supplements an you get to keep a few back for your self too for the coming season.

Best thing for nest pans is carbolic soap an multi mite on the top of the nest pans an front line the birds - the spray bottle plus a product called s76. I've not had mite for 6 seasons since using that s76 with the front line spray. Don't get any nest materials from out side. Your just asking for nasties mate. It's cheap enough from companies on line like Essex birds. Jackie she's a good woman an if you buy products off them all the time you get a loyalty gift which is some perle morbide. Few pairs of my goldfinches are down. Pair of classic pieds down hen on one egg laid this morning. Other pair whitetops. Hens whitetop ,eumo,satenette. The cock bird is whitetop , isabel pastel pied. I'm hoping to get a couple of rounds off these then use the cock bird on another pied hen an get some isabel pastel pied coming through. But that's the joys of pieds you don't know what you'll get. I've just bred this variegated cinnamon bird an it's sex linked so will be a hen. The mothers not a cinnamon I bred her last season an the father to the young bird was one a bred in 2016 an he's still going strong. To look at him you'd think he was a young bird. When he starts to sing with my other timbrado cocks they just go stump. A don't know what weather's been like where you are.. But here in Yorkshire we've had abit of sun so the dandelions are out in full. If its been the same for you get plenty of dandelion heads an the greens plus some dog rose buds , black thorn too just give the birds it as a daily diet from now on. Just be careful where you pick mate atb

It's all happing now same as it will be for many abet. I'm having to move some birds about another pair are building again I've put this clutch of four at the bottom of the cage. Hen keeps trying to lay her eggs in the same nest with the young even tho she's got another spare pan up at the otherside of double breeder. Strange thing canaries lol. So I've moved them to the bottom of cage lads who breed season in season out will know what I mean but for fellow bird keepers that don't. First round of waterslager on the sticks fledge the nest yesterday. Put mesh divider between today for parents to still feed. Been watching them feed through the mesh an feeding well still , will put the cock in with young later at evening . Hens on second round of eggs five this time.
