  1. Yeah seen the stouts great work ? Think the trouts taking the flys though will take some beating. A can see one of them in an orvis tackle shop above some hardy reels in cabinet. If I was doing them that's where I'd be taking them to sell doing the rounds at all the money shops. The frog work he's done too an the terrapin something else them. Reminds me of bates motel told Norman bates lol.
  2. Just been looking at some of the lads work the fish are something else first time I've seen that kind of work brilliant ?
  3. Brilliant work Rob but like mentioned it's just the foxes eyes it look more like an Antarctic fox them big old boys
  4. It's the eyes on both that don't look right. positioning of the eyes an skin around the eyes isn't correct. You see this in alot of work the eyes other than that the work you cant knock it . There was a chap who lived near me seen a few bits of his work at a pals house when we were kids. Locals lads who went hunting at the time called him the mad doctor.
  5. Crazy looking things them. You wouldn't want to take one of them on a country estate over here in England lol
  6. People have gone soft. My great grandfather & grandfather used to throw all kinds of quarry it with the ferrets. The ferrets beds weren't made from fully hay an straw. More so birds feathers natural to what they would do in the wild. The beds used to look comfortable with the feathers. They'd get stuck into the quarry eat off it. A can remember them eating all the rabbit an some using the jackets to bed down in clever fuckers. The games gone soft.
  7. Well just been watching a documentary on YouTube about the black market of gun sales in Afghanistan. But to me it doesn't look like a black Market as there blatantly there on the market selling guns. Just been watching them talk about this individual gun. They call it a shot gun ? To me it looks like an assault riffle I'm not much up on guns. They Just spoke about it made in Turkey an that it's a shotgun holds five rounds ? But what got me is the price 25000 Afghani which in our money is £236.02 very cheap ?
  8. Your welcome it's good fun manning a bird up getting that bond between bird an your self. There's a part of the training too called stimuli. This is a big part of training. It's about getting the birds confident around loud noises ie machinery. For instance if your going to do abit of work round a local tip or landfill site or maybe farm equipment , guns on the land. You don't want the bird spooking an flying off getting hit by traffic near by or any machinery. You can't beat that feeling once you've manned your own bird. I used to have my birds In living with me when a first got them. Just us
  9. Just came across this reading at work on sky news read. What's wrong with people simple b*****ds. It's taken years to get some of these populations back up due to pollution over the years an new laws against killing them but still its happening gutted to see this.
  10. It's a bad carry on allotments near me have a sign up on the gates about poultry being housed too. It will take some controlling this mate. My birds have been indoors all season. I've had to build all indoor flights for the goldfinches. So be housed the in indoor flights then move some over into flight breeders next season an rest keep in the flights. Was guna get myself a young Harris too but with the avian flu thought Al give it a miss. Not guna risk losing all my goldfinches. Hope it comes good for you mate. Just been watching a program on BBC iplayer about over in Ireland sounds like them
  11. Don't know if anybody had spoken about this. But it's got me wondering how much the falconry game has been affected ie the hunting for feather with the avian flu knocking about more so down south an around the coastal areas. The ones who've permission on land round the coastal areas that have been hit the most must be worried that the hunting game for the birds may come to a stand still. A don't think DEFRA was ready for this to be fair it's a shock to all bird keepers an bird lovers
  12. Good fun manning a young bird specially the first few days. Good fun when you see a novice that thinks its guna be a breeze ?. Bird flops back off the glove legs sprung back like a coiled spring ready for the hold on your free hand lol Then you've got the other end too that's just as worse at causing damage an pain lol. It's all about time you spend with the bird. The more time you put in the more benefits you'll reap. Soon as the bird does that flopping back move just gentle place the bird back on the glove. The bird won't take its eyes off you. After you've got the bird comfortable in just
  13. She's a clever bitch good nose on her mate.
  14. Went out this morning for a local mooch with young pup misses told me to take Stafford along too me thinking ffs But a was shocked Stafford worked well lol. Stafford pushed a rabbit out of some long grass into some decent cover an just went mental like a battering ram. Ended up running it to this 5 hole Warren and f**k me what a job on pulling her away. Young pup was showing abit of interest bit of fun to her but was a good laugh , more so watching pup have a go at the Stafford when she went near Warren when she's was there with nose in. She's so laid back this Stafford great dog. A wasn't
  15. Seen a eastern European knocking pike on the head at wintersett. Told him straight said bailif let's him take them. When a confronted the bailiff he says well he's got his leeds book. So really didn't give a f**k.
  16. Did you take it home for man cave ? brush it down , abit of varnish or bee wax lol
  17. Can't beat pike fishing in winter months late December Jan Feb when the big lady's have put that weight on. I've made a few live bait floats out of polly balls a bought from that shop Boys in brid. The polly balls are size of junior football. A need to get in the shed and find them have a session a think. There a place over in Yorkshire called pugneys water park nice size lake. It's a lake for kayaking an sailing but they let you fish the lake at the back end. The lake holds some big girls alot of over 20lbs. Few years back I had a monster of a girl 24lb 6oz to me it was anyway lol. That day
  18. I'm happy using them upto 3-4 seasons after that fertility will be not much. But saying that depends on what you feed your birds an supplements an plenty of wild foreigning for the right food they'd eat in the wild. I give my birds plenty of spices to for the natural antitoxins the birds benefit well from it. A don't pick much wild stuff now with the avian bird flu about not worth the risk. It's bad for it down south at moment. I've even given the shows a miss because of it. Newark warned birdkeepers on there Web site to be careful when bringing birds.
  19. She most probably will it's okay when you've got a few replacement or some thats a few seasons in but you wouldn't count on her if she was your only hen at 4 season in lol. I've got cock birds that are 7 years in. A sold a yellow cock bird to a chap end of last season 16 bird an he's got 13 young off him this season some yellow an a couple of satenets so he's done good there to say a let him take him for hundreds quid.
  20. How many years you got left before retirement mate ? I've got another 40 in me lol
  21. Only thing is like others have said your tied up all through summer holidays away are beginning of year an near end. But with weather like we're having now you don't mind it late on still warm the air here mate. It's nice when it goes well the bird seasons , but when it goes wrong which it does sometimes it's a sickener. But you can't cry over split milk we just carry on try do better the season after learn from the mistakes.
  22. Just bought in two new birds. One is British bred other was bred over continent. The one that's been bred over here this year is a brown pastel hen stunning bird. The second bird is a big classic type bird with a few white toe nails.
  23. I add loads of spice crushed chillie flakes, cumin , tumric , garlic powder , mixed herbs , paprika , all goes into the eggfood with frozen buffalo worms. All the spices have different benefits different anti toxins. The garlic is great for keeping down red mite. An a use Vaseline on there legs an perches. It's true it's great to see the next generation.
  24. I've got weekend feeders so can leave the birds plus the water a use virkon s have done for years my grandfather used it for his pigeons years back and never had many birds go light kills any internal parasites you only use abit tip of a tsp in 6 pints of water one of the 6 pint milk cartons.
  25. That's what it's all about few years on your back with knowledge plus experience ? These sib goldfinches are hard to keep on the sticks never mind breed lol. You only have to sneeze near them an there toes up ? ?
