  1. Brilliant It's fathers & grandfathers dreams for their children to take up the hobby's they've done for years. Passing the skills on. My skills are shite with a catty. A showed my lad how to hold & shoot the catty & he's better than me . Same with the air riffle , a showed him how to look down the scopes and aim. Got to the point that he knew best like kids do. Lol.
  2. It's strange that they carry this disease Green Finches. My pal years ago used to collect eggs from green finches. Many song birds. Think back in the 50s & 60s it was the norm egg collecting. He used to collect eggs plus keep birds. And he told me about the Green Finch & this disease. Told me don't buy any Green finches off guys you don't really know. Because they may of been wild caught.
  3. Doesn't matter if you've double mesh the finches will still bounce off the mesh. My pal had a siberian goldfinches rip its full mouth off nearly due to smashing into mesh. They just go scatty
  4. I wouldn't kill a sparrow hawk mate. But a know pals of mine that have. They've spotted them hitting the flight fronts. One lad was getting pestered every day. Going in to birds dead through shock with bouncing off the wire. And this guy had double mesh on the out and inside the fights. The sparrow hawk kept jumping on to flight then onto this post. Well my pal put a fenn trap on post. Came back from work and no more sparrow hawk.
  5. Dogs like that are ment for one thing protecting a yard chained up nice warm kennel well fed. Not walking down road by some 6 stone wet wipe walking like he's some big hitter. We should do what that chap does on train spotting. I've got it in sight miss money penny So you know what to do guys if you see a chav an a XL bully. Get the catty out of glove compartment lol.
  6. BBC sees people struggling on migrant boat before five died - BBC News WWW.BBC.CO.UK The BBC’s Andrew Harding witnessed a vessel leave the French coast in which five people later died. f***ing bullshit this video. If that what were paying the French for ( Well ) that's all a can say. Because no words can come out for the way a feel seeing that video. The way they brought just one back for the camera & still didn't rough him up. Why aren't these French coppers firing their pistols up in the air. Flatting the boats before they even get half way down the beach
  7. A know that mate. Bit of knowledge is good mate thanks. With it being a little black fly. The old chaps said black fly. A think many insects will destroy your veg. Fruit fly don't just eat fruit do they. Many a time I've had them running threw potatoes on kitchen side in summer months. When I've had to buy from shop. The bag has been covered in the b*****ds. One point we even had the in bread bag. Lol. A said to wife you need to by a bread f***ing bin. Sick of seeing these little b*****ds crawling in bread bag.
  8. Yeah it says that it comes on beans the black fly. But like you say you don't see them just holes everywhere over the carrots nightmare. I feed the goldfinch the Marigolds. A find the darker ones have the stronger smell. The smaller Marigolds the original you could say. Not the fancy ones
  9. My grandfather used to put his old mirror news papers in the trench with some well done manure. His onion were grand. He used to have a collie cross patch lovely cross breed dog she was. She used to come up to allotments never stood on his patches. Always walked on path. And when she got bored of being there , she used to walk home which was just down the road. And sit on the front door step. With us living over the road my mother used to ring my grandmother up and say patch is home on door step she must have got bored lol.
  10. Just brought it up Arry. Think that old chap told me some shite. But right a small black fly. So when he said black fly that's the name they used back then aswel has carrot fly. But with it being a fly eating carrots. The name carrot fly must have grown. But really it's not the fly that eats the carrot , It's the fly larva. The fly lays it's eggs on the carrot top then the larvae beds it's self down into the soil.
  11. Yeah I got told thats the real name for carrot fly. Black fly by an old gentleman down allotments. Because a said when a first start what's all these black little holes in my carrots. That's when he said black fly but people call them carrot fly.
  12. Love the dog pissing on veg it's about right init for a dog. Got all areas on plot to piss where there's nothing there. And goes for the lovely purple sprouted broc lol.
  13. Told him about the trick with Marigolds between your sets of carrots to stop black fly killing your crop. Didn't listen to that. Ended up run with black fly.
  14. True words they wouldn't have a clue how to condition the soil. Was a chap round allotments throwing fresh horse shite on his vegetable patch. A told him you scorch your vegetables mate. Specially the young veg your transplanting. Check the pH too buy your self a kit. Didn't listen ended up with f**k all end of season.
  15. Sorry for late reply mate. The canal is just at the side of the pond. If it's the Same Swan she normal nests on the canal side in the bulrushes.
  16. Seen this couple of days ago on the news. The copper that was talkin about it was on that police program years back ( Road Wars )with that other bald headed copper. He was a right prick on the program. Good cop bad cop. Think it's down derby way or Nottingham. " I hear black birds around here first thing doing house alarm sounds ". Few months back I heard a jay mimicking the sound of a buzzard. I'm looking all over for this buzzard on the treeline then noticed it was a jay. Another was a sparrow mimicking a bullfinch call. Its amazing how they can do this behaviour.
  17. Your comments going back a week now mate , so somebody will of commented on it nodoubt. Thats one thing I've never seen. A died kite on the side of road or motorway. Many years back they introduced them back to harrogate near harewood house ( soft release ) . At first the birds were in flights. Then after a few month they opened the flights up but still fed the birds until they found their feet around the area. Now you see them all over Down the side of the A1 M1 & A64. Can't beat looking out of motor seeing them twisting & turning specially the tails forking.
  18. Same to you mate. I've been using that grog this season in the eggfood. To be fair jimmy its work wonders on mortalities in nest. It's them first few days upto a week old that you normally lose young. Something to do with the shite in the nest. And if it gets onto the young can start some nasty shit in the young. So the grog stops all that. Don't ask me how but it works. Lol
  19. The goverment want to be ashamed of themselves for letting this happen. And they need to over rule the home office decisions of keeping these b*****ds here. If not it's our right to take matters into our own hands. And watch over our own waters.
  20. It's a nightmare mate. I've thrown loads of eggs away from second rounds. A feel shit throwing them away. But a don't want the canary eggs. No doubt all will of been okay too. Because first rounds I've been hitting 5s & 4s. I've got a good few numbers of chicks that are coming upto 14 days old. I always keep a few back for myself. For following season. But I always give the young birds a first round of canary eggs before putting the goldys under.
  21. I had one that was killing by birds few years back now. Killed my karkarikis the b*****d. Ended up finding a few bird which had been pulled into the middle of the concrete blocks that my flights were sat on. A never thought that the rats would get through due to them being strong blocks. Its the blocks that you see at the side of the Railway. The ones that keeps the electrical cables in. Net work Rail gave me a good few numbers of them. The down fall was they were open in the middle where the cables normally go. So due to me turning them upside-down and bedding them like that to sit the timb
  22. Look like mayflie skins. But a bet there not
  23. And many will give their hard earned taxes to fund it. Really the whole country should say jog on. I'm taking businesses that employ workers. Give the wages straight to the workers. It's not fair the tax payers paying for this. If most employers did this they could f**k everyone for standing up to this shit enough is enough. It's just would many risk doing it. My answers a big NO. And that's why they get away with it.
  24. So all that money spent for f**k all. Rwanda will love the uk.
