  1. I personally dont like the idea od bagged quarry, to me the animal doesn't know the lay of the land and I would THINK is makes the animal more streesed and therfore more likely to make mistakes and an easier catch for the dogs. In response to your second question I have not owned a dog capable of running a couple of miles at that speed regardless of the heat
  2. Ground control to major Tom..................................Beam me up scotty................................please...........................
  3. Mostly just stick the bunnies in my rucksack and pockets, if on the few occasions i get more rabbits than i can carry i drop them of at point and collect later.......
  4. Don't like the idea of an animal "released" like that but the combination of speed and stamina in those dogs is amazing......
  5. As a close friend of my says, could of been worse, could of been me................
  6. Ground control to Major Tom, using my amazing powers of deduction from simply reading the initial post i have deciphered that the area is DEVON, the price is £40 and they ARE indeed being colour fed....................
  7. May pop along if im not doing owt but the two posts contradict each other, one says everything starts at 1pm and the other says the coursing starts at 10am, which one is it fellas??
  8. Some folk dont listen, BUT matey to me dogs that "mean business" would do more than take a jacket......
  9. Same here, i dont really differentiate between the two, i have a couple of dogs inside and the rest in kennels, but all are, or have been workers of some description.......
  10. might get shut of my dogs then and get a shiz-su hahaha Well ive said that a few times when we have been out Jep
  11. Apparently just one of the many talents this dog possessed if you read the breed standards, but we have all read breed standards
  12.  I think ASBO's only came into force 9,999 years ago, and tesco opened there first store in 1019 AD...........
  13. My comment wasn't taht i disagree with what he said, although i would say many species are "used" to farming practice and others such as dogs have been domesticated in a different way but i agree, in theory there is no difference to eating pork/chicken/horse/cat/dog/snail. My comment about Hugh was that he started off with shows about hedgerow foraging and wild meat, then came river cottage, then Hugh started to get a bit dictatorial with his methods, i agreed with his chicken out campaign but its easy to tell folk when you are a millionaire, not living on the breadline, and nowdays i just ho
  14. They still try to say they are looking for rabbits, which is not illegal, but you don't need long dogs like greyhounds and lurchers for that A quote from the officer dealing with wildlife crime
  15. I think the more you can get out of your terrier the better, i think ratting is one of the best bits of sport available, i used to enjoy bushing but now im older i am more pesamisstic and when a terrier is bushing all i can think of is "will it drop to ground" "will it get lost" etc etc etc
  16. I really like Hugh, i sincerely hope he isn't losing it..................
  17. As has been previously mentioned, for ratting and bushing i would go for a Plummer, i wouldn't choose one as an earth dog but the only Plummer i owned was a demon ratter and bushed like a minature hound...........
  18. Personally i would be walking him on a long line and performing repatative recalls and rewarding him, i would also do this at night, and also off the lead in an ENCLOSED SPACE. The simple fact is you DON'T have a recall, and we never know what stock or dog etc is just over the hedge, a recalll wont happen over night, you may think it has but it hasn't, please just go back to basics are drill them in over time without the dog having the chance to bog off, mess about or do anything else BUT obey the command. I remember another member only a few months ago (Adam) who had a similar problem and t
  19. Jep, i'll see if i can find a copy of the first one and give it you mid week..........
  20. Get your self a shock collar and the dog will be sorted in a few weeks. thats the problem that solution has been tried an hes not afraid of the shock collar hes quite happy to wear it lol he just shruggs it off Then it hasn't been used correctly, NO dog will shrug off a decent collar, may i suggest going back to basics on the recall and forgeting lamping until you have sorted the recall problem, you will quite simply be reinstating the problem as you are conforming the dog can mess around and you are unable to do anything about it.........
  21. It happens, my dog ended last season(his first) going great guns and he has had a few nights out this season and looked shite but he has just started to click and look like the dog he ended as last season........
