any news on the whys of it all?
  2. might help if you put up their sizes, breeding, what parents have done, if they are stockbroken (and to what), quiet in kennels etc. Something you say might pique the interest of the right person. Good luck with them

    dogs

I want it all good feet, stamina, bidable, clever (but not more clever than me), good coat, pace, ... see, I said I want it all! Where we live and do most of our running it is a lot of fast running across gravel roads and on big fields (big by UK standards, but small for the US). Lots of barbed wire and ranch fencing so good jumping is a must. BUT we have to have dogs that we can pick up and go run places with long distance and stamina, coyotes in Kansas, jackrabbit in Wyoming, as well as being handy around digs and around barns for coon. Kye has 2 staghounds, they have been go

how big do you like your dogs, and how big are the multi tasking ones in New Mexico that you see? I'm talking about the ones that will do more than just hares/jackrabbit ... fox/coyote, capable of handling a decent deer too?

    HIPPYCHICK!!!

my mom used to say it was the "10th (or whatever year) aniversary of her 21st birthday" ... I always thought that was funny happy birthday!
  7. Leeview aren't greyhounds normally run on pretty easy ground, most of the ones I've seen have C R A P feet, they would never cut it on any rough land. Or are you talking about a different type, coursing etc?
  8. Tarka is right, quick stop is great but stings like crap, it does work to get the bleeding under control
  9. good dogs from the UK (or somewhere else?) went back to the middle east and couldn't cut it?
  10. you never know, they might have explained the ticket cost to your kid, and the kid said "I don't know" when quizzed by you ... I would have paid to see my kid in a play, but would have liked to know why
  11. so other than big fields and small, most of the terrain is pretty similar? I've been all over the UK but only a couple times up north and those were nights out, (other than L'pool to watch the waterloo)
  12. that's a shame, hope it works out for all involved, could make someone a nice ready-to-go dog as long as they are willing to take on the risk as well. Maybe he's a "Man's Dog"?
  13. it is one thing if someone is happy with their dog, but what if someone wants the BEST dog/breeding, but no one can say what the best is? And if someone is testing their dog on one terrain, and the dog is GOOD there, but outclassed on other terrain elsewhere, they aren't still the BEST
  14. I don't know BB, sometimes things are meant to be, there are plenty of non-people-agressive dogs looking for homes IMO
  15. have you talked to the farmers around you, are they seeing anything out and about, missing foul/sheep etc?
  16. does anyone know if any good Fen dogs have gone elsewhere to run i.e. back to Iran/Kazakstan etc or to America? People talk about how good they are, but I wonder how they compare to other places in the world? and how are they on things OTHER than hares?
  17. there is one pic at the top of the second post where it looks like there's black brindling?
  18. interesting brindle, veyr light
  19. posted this on another forum but it didn't get much discussion ... maybe more views will be freely expressed here? I come to this topic as a very frugal person and a working dog owner, as well as having a few “pet†dogs. If I come across like a jerk, so be it, but I always speak my mind. We don't breed or show, (1 terrier litter 3 years ago, all which we kept) but we wouldn't keep any that wouldn’t be worth breeding from. If a dog is exceptional at its task over a number of seasons, we might want to be able to use its blood in the future, or have a friend be able to use it. We NEED ou
  20. Kye's staghound bitch had a run-in with barbed wire this summer, it was a pretty decent gash and down into the muscle as well. We took her into the vet as it was a large upside down V-shaped tear and not a do-it-yerself job. The bitch ATE the stitched up flap off of her body around the ECollar, it was unbelievable. We thought it would be ages to heal, but it was about 6 weeks, wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it myself.
  21. jeez that doesn't sound good ... NO reflexes in legs, eyes, throat? How is he going to walk, see and eat?
  22. real estate completely depends on the area, the value of a property is almost always COMPLETELY in the land. Mostly anywhere near the coasts is a LOT more expensive than middle America. For example, my sister owns a little 1000 square foot condo in California worth about 600K, no yard, not on the beach or anything, neighbors RIGHT next to her, typical terrace type home. We own a 2500 square foot house in Nevada on 1 1/2 acres, worth 800K 3 years ago, now only worth MAYBE 500K due to the real estate market being softer than shit right now in that area. We bought a 1200 square foot home in M
