  1. I've no clue if it has bull in it or not, but his head does have a very strange shape?
  2. here's a pic of our "good" girl, she's about 6 months old now I guess? Clever, smart, interesting to watch ... I just hope she stays that way! I'll try and take some pics of her paws and "fingers" and try to explain better how they work?
  3. their paws are more like hands than anything else, and you really have to handle them to understand what I mean. Their fingers and thumb can move around in like 180 degree rotations, and if they hold onto something (a bowl, food item, wire on cage, etc) it is really diffucult to pry them off. Poking and prodding a dead coon or even seeing them worked by a dog is not the same as being around one and seeing how much dexterity they have in their digits. Oh and they are strong as f**k, you wouldn't know it unless you experience it.
  4. actually I think it was the blonde death WyoJRT that mentally killed all the coon ... one thing after another kept dropping dead or breaking before our very eyes (except for the dog leash that GIMP chewed through, I owe you one Erin!) she dropped her expensive camera in a creek while waiting for Kye and FR to quit F'ing around a HUGE pile of even huger trees and dirt that is NOT diggable ... Kye's lamp broke once, bulb broke once, Tia's toenail MUST have been her fault, Slag and Tor and Blister's coon damage ... christ the list is a mile long ...
  5. liar! Bad pets! Well, one of ours is, anyway. The light colored coon can stay in the damn cage, she bit me last week so if it was up to me, she'd no longer be in our home. BUT Kye thinks if we get rid of her that the outgoing one will turn wild, so we are stuck with the two of them.
  6. not yet, Tia broke a nail clean off on that 5-a-nighter so she is laid up in sick bay with every other running dog we have right now ... we'll be going to visit the Amish next week and hopefully that will net some brand new property to try out when you are here! Did you see the post about the Walnuts? I put that pic of Jugs up for you!
  7. ask FR how fast they are while he's chasing one around a field They don't move like a hare or a fox or dog or cat, they lope more like a bear than anything else, but can be quick when they are moving away. The little ones can run easier, but we don't run them. Often the big ones don't run at all, they turn and fight more often than not. They do not have big jaws like a fox or coyote, and I've not ever heard of a dog being killed by a coon (other than drowning). BUT their teeth and claws can do a lot of damage, and dogs do poorly from not being properly looked after. Our first couple
  8. Thanks for coming 2,000 miles to work your dogs and run some of ours ... hope you had fun! Come back any time and we look forward to heading up your way in January!
  9. KEEE-RIST! This was the response to the inquiry I emailed ... "The procedures which would include consultation, IV catheter and Fluids, general anesthesia, antibiotics, pain medications, a complete dental prophylaxis and examination, all dental radiographs, root canal therapy including Restoration, and medications to go home A very rough estimate for 2 root canals on a medium to large dog is $2,500-3,000 If crowns are done at the same time, it would be about an additional $2,000. If only crowns are necessary (which I doubt), it would run out around 3,000. Please note that crowns requ
  10. I have a feeling that they would say they should have been taken to a vet to have thousands pumped into them.
  11. like this? well behaved and close at hand? or like this? slobering and hanging over you and in general being in the way and a nuisance? I have to admit that the bottom one is mine, she's not as well behaved as Kye's.

    Best 3 films

Bugsy Malone (with Scott Baio and Jodie foster as kids playing gangsters) Platoon (I'm still in love with Willem Dafoe) Deuce Bigelow Male Gigilo (you'd have to see it in a funny mood to understand)
  13. distictive looking dog what with the coat and height on him, good luck and hope you get some news off this site.
  14. That's what Kye said we needed to do something like that for next year, except the walnut tree we have is HUGE and would take a hell of a lot of heavy duty netting. He hates the tree as he thinks that the roots is what caused us to have several inches of water in out basement several times this spring and summer, and I can't say I'd complain much ... I don't know if they use the hulls, I would assume that they do something with them? It was really cool, the huller thingy grated all of the hulls off and the walnuts in there shells rode a little conveyer belt up and then down into sacks.
  15. Funny that you mention the leather gear SS, while I was waiting for my big pay-off I noticed that the farm on the other side of the walnut farm has a bakery and also a leather shop. I have been trying to get him to come with me to "AmishVille" (I don't know what else to call it?) for the last 2 years, but he thinks my infatuation with the Amish and Menonites is creepy. But I can't help it! I didn't grow up around them and I'm a TOTAL Little House on the Prairie fan, which reminds me of the Amish. Anyway all of my raving about the little stores, cheap produce, animal auctions etc didn't
  16. isn't that the truth! for size reference, here is Kye sitting on the bag with his little mascot JUGS lending moral support
  17. the Amish near us buy black walnuts in the hull, they pay $13 per 100 pounds. Which I thought sounded like a lot of money, but that was before I knew what it entailed. I spent 4 1/2 hours crawling around on my hands and knees picking up walnuts, and still only had about half of them picked up. I then had to bag them up (with some half-assed help from Kye), load them, and drive them 10 miles to the Amish community near us. THEN helped dump each bag into the de-huller and wait for the final weight. I wanted to take some pics but they already think I'm a wierdo. So I took in 10 onion sac
  18. here are a few more pics of the coon ... the shy one is even more shy and she doesn't get outdoor playtime like the outgoing one does.
  19. so I need to keep their schedule as regular as possible then? I did go and get a timer the other day but have't plugged it in yet, I will do it tonight. Is it better that it come on for the 3 extra hours in the morning or in the evening?
  20. one that comes back to the vehicle sharpish instead of dicking about
