  1. Not up the shoot as such but when I was getting some logs in I heard the trap go down the garden! Little hob weasel! Buck his name was. not had one for years!
  2. When I was selling rabbit to the gamedealer, between 750 and a thousand a year the 22 was perfect. Those days are gone now afraid so......
  3. Never been. Over 3 million visitors this summer I believe! No ta. Not for me that. My thoughts would be Auchan Murchan peninsula or Applecross and 3 million midges trying to eat me. Better than 3 million humans! John'll make it work down there. He'll have somewhere in mind....
  4. Noticed a little bit of creep on the one in the shop!
  5. You've got two already? I've always wanted to be exclusive, I believe its better than just special!
  6. Deal done. Swapping the 22 for a 455 in 17hmr. I can have one rigged for night, my current 457 and the 455 with a scope baldcoot sent me for a slightly lighter daytime rig. The 17hmr has proven to me its versatility and its safety. Yes I have had to eat my words over calling it a mouse gun, it's more than a mouse gun! No doubt I'll have to fix the trigger on the 455 but that's nothing new. So, just got to wait for the variation now......
  7. If you end up a lousy fisherman you can always become a ferryman ?
  8. That's how I do it......oops, did I say that out loud ?
  9. The irony! Handling the wheat twice and lugging a beast out! Good for you buddy.
  10. So I went out with the 22 again today. I cheated the scope to see how it affected the sighting plane to trajectory by lifting the rear of the scope a shade. Didn't make much difference really. I did come away with a smart buck rabbit shot at a whopping 8yards but still feel underwhelmed with it. I'm gonna swap it for something warmer if I can find something. Going off the Annie. To many scary stories of being ammo fussy in wmr! Over and out....
  11. Sounds like one of my outings lol. Well done. Know any good hare recipes? I have plenty about this year.
  12. They are a big powerful dog. I doubt they have much trouble with damaged tails.
  13. Then I stand corrected, thanks. It's a shame the law did not command the police to approach the gp of an applicant instead of the vague request for permission!
  14. Take it you don't want them either. I've never used them other than for testing something and they are useless in a muzzleloader! I'll just throw them away I think....
  15. We are all different and live/ work in different environments. ?
  16. Yes and no mate. Everytime I go out with the 22 I end up plinking a box away! Often because I'm testing the drop or try to fathom it out again verses range etc etc. In other words 500 rds does not last long and the vermin to rounds purchased ratio is poor compared to hmr or wmr. Often the hmr goes out but never fires a shot. With the 22 I would of blasted half a box at nothing. For high squirrel numbers an air rifle or my muffpower 12g spreads the ammo cost but again the hmr as a rifle is fine for some of that roll. I hear you about reloading the hornet but even the costs f
  17. Yes it's funny how some places are covered in them but a couple of miles away there will be none. I'm getting on top of them on one place. Yesterday I only shot 2 (with the piddly 22) after shooting 6 plus every visit there every other day. Visited my RFD this week. He offered me a very tempting deal on a like new Annie 1516 in wmr. It's got me thinking my hmr could be my night time rig for the most part and the nice light sporting Annie a daytime knock about rifle flat enough for 100yd shooting (with some room for error) without having to think about it much. Unlike
  18. Should of been. Buy me a one way ticket to Wyoming!
  19. 10g muzzleloader with 2oz of #4 buck and stop piddling about with peashooters!
  20. Well no really mate. The police are given permission to access one's medical records. If a biased opinion was given the police by a doctor that's when they actually read the history to look for evidence to back the opinion up or otherwise. It was an ill thought out mitigation measure after Dunblane because the police covering Hamilton where exposed for incompetence and corruption but still got away with it! In other words, it was wrong from the get go.
  21. The thing is, nutters don't go the doctors for help. People with a mental health illness that do get help are as sound as any other person because the got help or at least asked so their medical record is no warning at all. If the police actually phoned the gp someone has given the police permission to approach the gp's response would be if it was someone......special, alarming! As it is, its just box ticking exercise and with so many things British police, nothing will change for the good, especially for public safety! I would love to know where this clinic is! You know, the
  22. The black ones look so mysterious to me. I think they are very smart looking.
  23. I know of no act of Parliament making it a legal requirement so I would send your firearms team a copy of that letter come the time of renewal. Because so many have capitulated it's going to make it difficult for people who don't like organisations making it difficult for the people they should be serving in order to simply cover the organisations rears! The way the country is decaying on an administrive level we will be handing bribes over soon!
