  1. I thought they said palmated, fallow bucks antler is palmated. No?
  2. Oh poop, I just noticed how old the original post is ? OK, well check your trigger group is not gummed up with oil full of combustion deposits. The rearward travel of the bolt releases the magazine stop but the shell lifter should also be down. When you manually press the shell lifter up to the bolt it should drop back down again. If it doesn't you need to find out why.
  3. Remove all oil. Run it dry. Make sure there is no gum in the action bar grooves in the receiver. Check the o ring is present and still good. Make sure the trigger group is all freely moving and not gummed up. Run it dry. Don't oil it.
  4. I don't like snow, except on a moon lit night, little wind, binos and a rifle and stalk Charlie or call him. I use to sit in a high seat/box all night over a stink pit after a good snow fall. Wrapped up and a large flask of hot chocolate. Pee bucket up there too. Crows would fly around as though it was daylight! Watching Charlie was amazing. Some come in very cautiously and some would just rock up. Good times.
  5. Just popped out for a duck and goose on this wind with the 10g. Got nothing but royally soaked! But, it was grand seeing several woodcock flighting on dusk, not seen so many for years. Brought back memories from flighting them on dark and my labs retrieving them. Good times.
  6. You'll be OK, just go easy on the herbs and spices, they soon overpower everything!
  7. Sure, I was watching them interact in a stream one very snowy day as I waited for a fox to turn up. They were only a few yards away. They were chasing each other around and would flick their tails to flash the cream white feathers similar to how an alarmed moorhen does. It changed how I see them now. Meatloaf is simple. Food blender. Cleaned meat, a little amount of onion, black pepper, salt and a slice of bread. A little olive oil. Press the button until it is all a paste. Put in an earthenware or tin and bake for about 40 minutes. Add other ingredients if you
  8. It has been a lean 2 years here Deker for woodcock. I won't deliberately pursue them this season again. It will only be an opportunist shot if it happens again. I could of done with two really. I make a meatloaf with dark meat gamebirds as I'm not to keen on gamey rich meats.
  9. I don't know why I'm laughing. Prices of everything is crazy now. The other crazy thing is them cartridges will be very little different than their basic line! Don't ask how I know!
  10. Or there abouts. 6:30 to 3pm. My body hurts! Took my 10g out for a good ole' walk starting with fox calling at first light. Nothing showed. I know one is about but I just can't seem to find the little rascal! Anyway settled into some bird hunting. There are way more woodcock this year and I got one. Seen seven today. Next up was a hen bird. Then on the way home I got two more cock birds. Absolutely jiggered. Game bag had three pheasants in it and a woodcock. Jess worked hard. She had a rince and food. The gun can wait, I'm getting a bath. Zzzzzz
  11. I make 25 count. That is good. Hail the 22! You watch one dosnt bounce back at you! ?
  12. I hope it trots up the 458 to Shrewsbury then?
  13. No, no pigs have turned up around here, yet. Any one here seen any? How is the law on using shotguns? I understand there are rifle caliber recommendations and a grant for shotgun slugs would be a good reason for piggy but is there any exemption for using large buckshot from a section 2 shotgun?
  14. Well that worked! Nipped out before the weather deteriorates again. Spotted one that locks onto my red light at 400yds and by the time I get to 300yds it slips away. It seems to be in a particular wood and my little bediwhippet was scenting the air in there last weekend so I may just let her run the wood soon and I carry a shotgun. Any way on the way back along the farm track I sprung a fox right where I leave bait regularly. I let it calm down a couple hundred yards away and then started squealing. In it came. 75yd shot, ran away 30yd stopped and got one extra free.
  15. Hey I'm not anti NHS. I'm expressing my anguish of how it is struggling!
  16. Good for you but why only 25yds? 22mag is fun at 200yds and the 357 much further than that. I use to lob mine to around 400yds. Just asking.
  17. On no ? you shot the only synchronised squirrel team know to man ?
  18. I'm seeing more woodcock than last year, are you seeing more?
  19. Private health care insurance would be a hell of a lot cheaper than NI contributions/tax.
  20. When I was shooting a lot of rabbits I occasionally would get one with a nice healing 22 size hole in its ear!
  21. I'm reluctant to have another jab. The last one made me ill. I still have red blotches all over me!! I feel not only sorry for the NHS but very afraid for when I need the NHS! It's broken!! My daughter works there, she says it's broken!! A member of my family was in a&e this morning, they told her the NHS is broken! A friend of my wife, her daughter is getting out of the NHS! It's broken ☹
