  1. We might be able to help you out but it would be at the end of the shooting season. Drop me a PM then if you have had no luck before hand. ATB
  2. If she was mine i would stop taking her to places where she doesnt have a chance of catching. I would get her out with the ferrets and let her hold a few in the nets, she'll catch, in her mind at least, and its all very controlled. Once she has caught and believes she can do it take her somewhere where the rabbits arent educated and give her a chance, alternatively try again with the ferrets on an open bury and leave the nets off.
  3. Well done lads and dogs, i'd be chuffed if i saw that many in a night round here!
  4. Sounds like a great way to spend the weekend. Bron looks an absolute stunner and sounds like shes coming on to match
  5. Westy - no a different place, gonna leave that one til the grass is shorter. Cantona - on her first retrieve she sometimes mouths it and stops short. We used to have a mexican stand off where she'd stand five yards away and i'd demand she brought it all the way back. She always gave in eventually and i didnt so now she knows she has to bring it to me, just on the first rabbit she tries her luck. Usually her retrieve is fine after that, i've found the more runs she gets the faster her retrieve becomes. Shes not perfect but im pleased enough with her.
  6. Cheers lads. She seems fine today but im giving her a couple of nights off to be sure. Good luck tonight
  7. We dont have them here which is a shame and a blessing all in one lol
  8. Bought mine at the midland and read it cover to cover on sunday. Definately a good read
  9. I got a lazer light tomo too when they first hit the seen, at the time they were a good little lamp, strong reliable and had the side light. But they seem like a torch now, the beam just dosent throw far enough. Feck nows how we used to lamp with them, as to todays standards they just dont seem up to scratch, just my opinion Cheers Atb I used to tag along with lads using car lights and batteries but my own first lamp was a lazer light sometime in the mid nineties, the one with the plastic box to hold the battery. I still have it now although i cant remember when i last used it.
  10. You cant beat a bit of bushing, i love watching a pack work together and the fact you never quite know what you'll find
  11. Inspired by the recent spate of decent posts I thought I'd put something up. I took Willow out for an hour locally tonight. She did well although her retrieve, especially on the first rabbit of the night, still needs work. She ran six and caught five but fumbled one and it got away. She took a bit of a tumble on the second to last one and came back holding her paw up on the last one hence we called it a night. She doesnt seem sore on it now but i hosed it off and gave her a rub down anyway so fingers crossed its nothing major. I tried to take pictures a couple of times but they were crap s
  12. So did anyone win overall? I won one month and i think blackstaff won another, the first prize sounded amazing I would have thought we'd have heard if someone had been out with danw. As i remember it the lurcher striking the fox in the snow was the best IMO but cant remember who took it?
  13. Well, turned into a good day. Site visit went well and im pretty sure i'll have the job. Found a real good place for a mooch too, MoD ground with open access. Didnt see any game but spent two hours in beautiful countryside and only saw two other people and they were near the car park, pretty unbelievable for a sunny saturday in Surrey!
  14. I have a site visit in the area this morning and brought the dogs with me with a view to a wander on the way back. If anyone like minded is is the area and fancies a walk/mooch drpp me a PM. Cheers
  15. I bought a clu briter after seeing a friend using one and being very impressed. IMO they are ideal for a subtle mooch with the dogs or to use with a rimmy or airgun. My only gripe is that the beam is a bit too tight, unless you have ninja reflexes its bloody hard not to lose a rabbit in the beam if it really starts putting the turns in. The dogs also seem to struggle seeing squatters with it for some reason. Overall though its bloody handy and at £44 you cant go wrong
  16. Cheers lads. Westy - that'd be good. Got your dvds here, had them ready to take to the midland too but you didnt make it. I'll drop in for a coffee one night this week and drop them off if your about? Give me a bell
  17. No wonder people dont post anymore, its just ends in stupidity. For what its worth your pup looks handy and is obviously pleasing you which is what its all about in my opinion. Its good to see some more actual hunting topics appearing, keep it up. ATB
  18. Same here, on one particular permission there are very few places left where you can risk a ferret now. Its a real nuisance not just with regards to ferreting, the farm is a sheep farm and has seen considerable increase in lamb predation pretty much in line with the badger population explosion. They are nice animals to see around but in some places the population is getting ridiculous.
  19. Great pictures and loving that fiddle music
  20. The weather has been perfect this week and i've been out for an hour locally most nights. Willow, 2 years old, hasnt been lamped since last season but was going well then so i was pretty confident on the first night - WRONG! She ran like she'd never seen a lamp before, running over squatters, overshooting, stopping at cover and fences, lap of honour etc. I was gutted, we soldiered on until one rabbit, the dimmest in sussex, allowed her to catch it and then we went home. Ending, in her eyes anyway, on a good note. The next night was better but not much but the third night it was like she sudden
  21. Nice, she seems to be coming on well for you. I took my bitch out last night, shes two no longer a pup, but seemed to have forgotten everything she learnt last season on the last two trips out. Last night she finally remembered what she was for and managed three for four runsin the first field, all retrieved and no crunching! I was over the moon as i'd been starting to despair! Should have stayed out longer and made the most of it but thought i'd finish on a high.
  22. Jai - If you fancy company and someone to split costs on a trip to spain im in
  23. Dont take it with me on foot but its always in the car.
