Back feeding this morning and it was looking like a glorious morning, but you guessed it, the rain has started

Good write up ? it’s nice to see people doing a write up when things don’t go to plan, many years ago I shot a feral cat that I was convinced was a cub, at the time I thought it was the farm cat until I built up the courage to ask the farmer, I spent ages looking at it before I took the shot. It doesn’t matter how many times it goes to plan at some point it will go wrong and if everyone can learn something from that it can only be a good thing ?

A couple more from this morning considering how cold it was, it didn’t seem to stop the dog walkers, I had to ask 2 to put their wild beasts back on a lead and explain myself about why there was 2 dead squizzers on the front of the bike it was good to see a few birds around the forestry pen drive as this is one of the drives that was massively over fed and the birds seemed to of wandered off from here

Feeding this morning and I’m starting to make a dent in the feed shed ? it’s very wet up there, when I arrived the sun was just rising and it was a tropical 4 degrees, by the time I had got loaded up and over the far side of the shoot ( piggeries) the cloud/fog had come in and the temperature had dropped to just above freezing ?. The birds seem more or less where I’d expect them to be after the over feeding carry on, I’ve made another feed area in one of the drives that will hopefully put the birds up a little earlier and send them well above the trees and I’ve done away with a couple of feede

Gun type - rifle. calibre .22lr will be your best bet for rabbits and your first venture into FAC, also if you want a sound mod you will need to apply for that along side the rifle, it’s a shame you are not around some of the nice folks on here that could give you a bit of rifle experience ?

I had a climb up earlier and it’s a bit wild, you can feel the gantry moving, I’ll probably get sea sick? I’ll probably give it a go at the weekend, I have to dig my thermals out ?

New bit of shooting ( sort of ) it’s my mates farm and he’s got a few foxes milling around so he’s asked if I’ll have a go at them and I get to shoot from the top of the grain dryer, exciting stuff ?

Well here we go a little summery of the day On arrival it was a lovely crisp morning with a light dusting of snow, drive number one was the “badger sets” with a couple getting up early in the drive it was the last section that produced a good flush of birds, onto the next drive “oak wood” and this one produced some good birds, not in big numbers but some quality high birds, I wasn’t expecting anything from here as I didn’t see a bird there yesterday when feeding. This is a drive that tends to attract a few of next doors birds and true to form we had a few blue backs ( that we don’t put d

We feed on straw ( well I do, someone else had other ideas) it keeps them entertained and stop the deer hovering it up, I might as well of put the bike away and set off rowing ? around the shoot today, the track were flowing with the amount of water that was coming down, I was going to have a walk around and shoot some squizzers but I was just to wet, a did manage a big bitch sqizzer off one of the feeders on my way back to the farm ?

Up the shoot for first light and it’s very wet. There’s a fare few birds in 3 of the main drives, the amount of wheat the lad put down over a week ago is stupid, a couple of the feed areas look like a wheat field where it has germinated, I’m over the far side now and the track is full of swollen wheat, he’s now been banned from feeding

I’m hoping they have cleared up all the wheat the other lad put down and are hungry in the morning, there’s a chance of a bit of snow up there so that can only be a good thing to keep them around the feed

Hopefully, I’m up there for first light tomorrow to feed and to see where they are coming off roost, I’ve had a shoot member get carried away feeding so a fare few of the birds are not where I’d expect them to be, we’ll see what tomorrow brings ?
