I have a vortex scope on my .243 and I wouldn’t use anything else now, the glass is superb in low light, they come with a lifetime warranty ( even damage ) I also have vortex binoculars as I was that impressed with the scopes, only down side is they won’t take a NV add-on because of the coatings on the glass

I’ve just started a job today, a big Indian stone patio, anyway the woman was out telling me that she’s sick of the squirrels eating all her veg, this is the first time I’ve come across someone who can’t tell the difference between a squirrel and a rat, they are bloody massive and running around the garden without a care in the world, playing with each other ?

It’s 100% down to the police that this happened, up this way a good few years back it was a bloke called Derrick Bird, he had a history of mental health problems and people who knew him had concerns about his behaviour, yet he was allowed to keep his FAC and decided to drive around the local town shooting people with his rifles, firstly people who he thought had wronged him, then just random people in the street before turning the gun on himself, I think he shot about 12 people I don’t hold out much hope for the lad I know who is trying to get them back for the second time, even if he h

FAC is different to SGC, some need to be members of rifle clubs, others who have land need calibre suitability for that land, if they are granted some have closed tickets, some need to prove extra experience I.e mentoring, especially when you move onto centrefire, it’s a lot more hoops to jump through and can show a person suitability to possess a firearm, yet for a shotgun all you have to say is you want to go and bust a few clays and if you pass the limited checks, away you go, but you’ll know this from when you got yours its just been on the radio that the home secretary is changing t

I was always told that with rifles if you don’t use it, you lose it, then a good while ago I was speaking with an FEO, ( not from my area ) he told me that he had never known of anyone to have had a rifle removed from their ticket through lack of use

MI5 don’t check your suitability to own a firearm, if you have come to the attention of MI5 it will be on the police national computer and the firearms department will be aware of that I don’t think that firearms laws are lax, but the one thing that bothers me is how easy it is for someone who is unsuitable to get a shotgun as long as they haven’t been in any bother for a while as for FAC air, that should 100% be on an FAC, it’s a single projectile, I strongly believe that any sub 12lb air should have to be registered to its owner, it’s not just about the odd nutter that goes out a

Air guns are only restricted by age and power, you can still do a lot of damage with a sub 12lb air rife, bows are restricted by age and some of them compound bows are crazy how powerful they are, yet an 18 year old clown can buy a bow or crossbow and shoot next doors cat because he thinks it’s a laugh, I only have these views because of the idiots I’ve come across over the years and because I’m 9 bottles of peroni in ? 95% of people are no doubt suitable to hold a SGC, the problem I see is that firearms licensing do not scrutinise a shotgun application in the same way as a FAC, out of the ones that are not suitable a fraction of them would likely do something like this mental scumbag, that doesn’t mean because they wouldn’t shoot someone that they should be allowed to hold a SGC if it’s true that he was recently reissued his SGC after having it revoked then that clearly shows that someone is not doing their job properly, Just because they do a criminal record check and sometimes a medical records

This is just my opinion, but I think firearms licensing need to get their house in order, in order to get an FAC you have to jump through a lot of hoops ( and I’m not saying they get this right every the time) but it seems they dish out SGC to anyone, I can name at least half a dozen people that I know personally that own shotguns that I wouldn’t let hold a catapult, I also know someone who had FAC and SGC and has had them taken off him twice over the years, he’s now in the process of applying for them back again and has someone high up in a shooting organisation helping him ( who’s telling hi

It’s great when they just want to be there and nice for them when they get something at the end of it they weren’t expecting, the best part for me is knowing they would want to come without any incentive, just for the enjoyment of the day out ? there’s not much grouse shooting around here this year, the count was very low this year
