  1. I think one or two people are getting a little carried away The question was ....what is the best for £150 Not ...what is the best!
  2. I'm a little surprised, I know you say you have only been there a few months but the landlord/managers/tennants of all the pubs close to my shoots know everyone, and everyone knows them, and they get to go out shooting whenever they want. Can't any of your regulars/customers steer you in the right direction or help you out?

    freaky shit

Been going around for years this one but its still a good one. If you want to keep the magic and don't want to know how it's done do not read on! Answer at bottom!! The answer will always be a multiple of 9! 9-18-27-36-45 etc etc, so they just change the symbols round to each multiple of 9 every time, so it looks like you guess a different symbol every time.
  4. or a rat OR anything else...squirrel, snake, fox, mink etc...about 15 years back I was out one lovely summers evening with my mate Andy who had a very unfortunate encounter with an adder down a rabbit hole...don't mind admitting it scared the s**t out of me as well. He recovered ok but the hospital were a bit lost what to do to start with, and you can still see a bit of mark and discolouration on his hand.
  5. Stubby Help me out....I know the resevour on that TDR is not very big but....a good 500-800 refills...how big is your bottle and how many shots do you get from a charge???? Assuming a minimum of 500 refills, and say 1 a week, that would mean 10 years before you need the bottle topping up. Put another way, you will never charge the bottle as it will only ever be half used at the 5 year test. On that basis and 800 refills, you talk in terms of 16 years between charges and 3 bottle tests before you drop the pressure and need a top up! Deker
  6. 12ft lb The .22 is still a better low power killing tool shot for shot. The .177 is without doubt faster and flatter and therefore in the right hands potentially more accurate. However, you need to be more accurate with it as it does not arrive with the thump of the .22. You do not have quite the margin of error on the shot that you do with a .22. IF you are a good, and consistantly good shot, the .177 is an admirable hunting tool. In many cases against many quarry you need to take the head shot with a .177, against a rat for example, there is every chance a .177 will go cl
  7. Isn't that some sort of a bun with America, Italian and Jewish connections!
  8. Don't you f g start!!! It's Sunday no allowed! Everyone is entitled to their own view.... even if they are all wrong
  9. Is your Caps Lock key stuck...you always appear to be shouting at people in your threads?
  10. Whoever said it... 50yards----68yards........Springer?.....Bipod?????? I can't deny I would like to see that video too. We can all make big shots sometimes, but SOMETIMES is the important bit. Shots like this, with these tools, should not to be considered under any normal hunting circumstances. Another very important thing to remember is IN THE FIELD!!!! We can all measure 50 yards on a range..take 20 shots to zero and then, with a bit of luck, fire a couple in the right place...how often do you get the chance to do that in the field against live quarry. Please do not say lu
  11. hey up deker i think that the forum where you have to have a special (paid for) email account is the airgun forum, you don;t need anything special to join the airgun bbs fora john Whoops!!!! have I got mixed up...appologies if I have it wrong...I'll go and have a look!
  12. http://www.justcartridges.com/ I think you will struggle to get anything more than 7 in a 2" 410. I know 9's are available but I think probably only in 21/2" or 3". Shotgun cartridge prices seem to have gone through the roof in the last 2 or 3 years and the economies of scale means you have a very wide choice in 12g, and 410 are commonly more expensive than 12G
  13. I am self employed and poor so I only have a Hotmail address...apparently that makes me an inferior human being and fails to give me any voice on the BBS, if they don't want to mix with mere mortals then they needn't ask for my help when the time comes to march on Parliament. I totally accept they can make whatever rules they like but they want THEIR CLUB!!! It appears they do not want to stand side by side with me, right or wrong where is the empathy and equality in that? Tragically this is the very reason the Government can walk all over shooters, there are so many fragmented or

    gamo

Even Gamo list several of theirs to be below 12 and only rate some at full power. My lad has recently bought a (new) RSV and we are struggling to get 10ft lb out of it when it lists as Full Power (16j). You are either very lucky (or unlucky) to get over 12 out of one, tuning specialists such as Terry Robb will tell you 10ft lb is not bad for one of these. I put a thread up a month or two back asking how I could get my lads nearer 12 without breaking the bank, I'd be pleased to hear how/why you think the ones you have had experience of make it that high so I can tune my lads. Cheers
  15. Just seen one of those ads for the DVLA...."we know where every untaxed vehicle in Britain is".......you know the ones!!! Yet we haven't a clue where the thousand of illegal immigrants or terrorists are... Perhaps Gordon should put the DVLA in charge of Immigration!!! Deker

    gamo

There is lots of info on the web about Gamo. One thing to be careful about is the fact that a number of their guns fall a bit short of the 12ft lb mark. Gamo is Spanish and if you look closely you will find that a lot of Gamo and BSA look very similar these days, now...why could that be I wonder Deker
  17. A bet is a debt of honour, it's just like a handshake. NEVER enter into a bet unles you are prepared to pay and NEVER dishonour a bet! Let us please keep at least some of the old standards! Deker
  18. What power are you running it at and what are you pointing it at????? Up to 12ft lb you need to try a few and see what you/the gun does best with! There are a few pellets rated up to 30ft lb (absolute max about 40ft lb), Air Arms Field, Bisley Magnum etc. This Gun will allegedly produce 80ft lb, to be honest I cannot see any point in pushing it anywhere close to that, there are only a handful of pellets you could use, (Dai Sung 28.5g, Eun Jin 28.4g, Eley Magnum 30g, H & N Rabbit Magnum 30g, RWS CA707 28.5g, (Daystate) Magnum bullets 40g, Varminter H.P. bullets 39.5g). All these
  19. Take a look on Guntrader.co.uk. You should be able to learn a lot by looking at the guns for sale.
  20. It's been said really but like for like the .22 is heavier than the .177. On the basis they both produce 12ft lb the .177 flies faster and can be more accurate but on a number of small quarry, rats, birds etc this means that it can sometimes go clean through not imparting all its energy into the quarry. Being faster and with a flatter trajectory it is also the favoured target tool at HIGH LEVEL competition. The .22 is seldom used for serious competition although many people target shoot with them. Having a larger frontal area than a .177 and being heavier its tends to do more quarr

    plumber terriers

So tawny looks like you have a bargain..just not what you thought...hell.... don't ask me...but I can spell plummer!
  23. Has this worked for you????? It must be right what they say about how pleasant, reasonable and accomodating people are in Wales. If I sent out an unsolicited letter like this in Berkshire it would end up straight in file X. If only it was that easy!! People round here are "London", hard nosed, insular and cynical, you really need to gain their trust; this could even have a negative effect round here. Looks like a move to Wales could be in order!
  24. Thank heavens for that!!!! I am well aware of the restrictions placed on the night shooting of assorted quarry but I had never heard of written permissions being legally required for night shooting. Totally agree that written permissions are always best but circumstances don't always work out that way! Cheers Deker

    plumber terriers

tawny Seems to me you asked people their opinion because several people had put a doubt in you mind. Now you are busy telling everyone you know the line and this animal is pure. There are very few people in this country who are EXPERTS on the plummer and I suspect most of those would want to see some paperwork. I'm no expert at all but I have my doubts. I hope this dog is right or you have paid a lot for a doubtful 57, and £150 per time in a few months will be a dream! Good luck whatever. Deker
