  1. what bottle is out of date mate ? the dive bottle you have or the buddy bottle off the rifle ! if its the one off the rifle then that hasnt got to be tested ! Jamie g I was always under the impression that the gun bottle (not resevoir) DID need testing, but I've never had a detachable bottle, but know a couple of Rapid 7 owners and at least one HAS had his gun bottles tested. Can I ask what leads you to say it doesn't! Cheers dont no really mate ive never had to have mine tested and the rapid we use to have. we had for 6 years and never has the guy in my shop charge

  3. I've had the carbine and classic and personally i think this shoots as well as both, you've also got the advantage of take down.....why do you rate the classic above it Deker ? Just interested mate. For me the whole s410 thing is amazing, because a few 'well known' fella's use them i see all un sundry recommending them... ...even people who dont/havent shot them. I've shot with quite a lot of guns but personally i didn't get on well with the classic or carbine. Had the TDR and i too was taken in by all the comments about the classic and carbine so went for them, i wish i hadn't....i should h

  5. You would have been better off sending me a link to a porn website ! Sorry mate it doesent make any sense to me, dull as a brush when it comes to wording like that, first it said it is an offence to kill or injure any bird, then it said an authorized person can?!?! Thanks for putting it into plain english for me , i did try to discourage the gulls first but not the pigeons, i just shoot them to eat, am i even allowed to do that? Sorry but i just need some clearing up. Luke You cannot legally shoot the pigeon for the sole reason and purpose of making a pie, you have to sh
  6. The .22LR Pistol is a deadly and much underated tool, since the changes in the Deer Act Last year it is also perfectly acceptable to us it for Humane despatch of deer as well (lots of ammo choice for each job too)! With regard the original question from Leveller, put the right case and you will get one (medical and police records permitting)..you will need to show appropriate reason as Matt has said!!
  7. Russian Barnaul for "chucking" down the range in .223Rem..most commonly 200yards. 14-16p EACH 55g or 62g FMJ! My days of serious competition are over, and this does me fine now...no suggestion this is the best stuff around, it isn't..but it groups plenty well enough for what I want down the range these days, and if I let go -100 in a session I still have some change for a pint in the clubhouse afterwards!!!
  8. If for some reason you want a rifle you can take apart and put in a box then it is very good! If you just want a good rilfle forget it, there are plenty of better ones, including of course the classic 410!!!
  9. That is about it's max range...forget the 100m stated, AND if you put a Red filter on it knock things down even more. BUT, the Atom is ok for close 12ft Air rifle (as is the Logan Lamp) but it is no good for scanning longer distances to find your quarry! How much does an Atom Pro cost £111... How much does a Max Pro cost £112 Around 4 times the beam distance !!!! Discuss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cheers
  10. Target....Small Game/Vermin....Larger Game/Vermin.....Close...... Far...Eating or just Killing...etc, etc?????? I think you have had the best advice already because even if someone says XXX is brilliant it may not suit you or your uses..suggest you try a few as others have said!
  11. So something like 26-30p a shot. Not bad about £1.50 less than a premium factory round in .223 e.g Remington 50 gr Acuutips. On that basis then once youve loaded 3-400 rounds it would have offset the equipment and start up costs. Sounds good to me. Did I miss something here, are you paying in the order of £1.80p EACH for these??? Also, on the other hand remember you can buy CHEAP Factory Barnaul in .223 Rem from the likes of Peter Lawman for £13.95p per 100 Certainly for Remington 50 gr Accutips in .222 they are around £17-18 for 20, .22-250 are around £20-21 for 20.
  12. Yep..sure does..and there will never really be an answer, .22 for hunting and .177 for target is the time honoured tradition. Whilst I would still tend to agree with this, what is best for what......this must surely be down to who's hand the gun is in and their specific, detailed, use and requirements! All the best for trying but I think this will be a really tricky one!!
  13. The Tracer ATOM is nowhere near as powerful as the Max. I would tend to agree that a dimmer is hardly worth bothering about with the Atom, the MAX is MUCH brighter and the dimmer is very useful on this! Atom is rated as a 100m beam Max is rated as a 400m beam Don't believe either of these ranges they are both exagerations...yes; I have used BOTH, and the Mini as well!
  14. The coloured filters do reduce the light but they are not a dimmer!! Hold on...I didn't say it "isn't that good", beam is fine, value for money is good, build quality is not that great! There are brighter units and there are better built units but they all cost a chunk more! For most people for most applications the Deben Tracer Mini and Max offer plenty!

  16. I do not and never have reloaded, and don't know anything about it, although I hear a lot of good things about reloading. Apart from cost..just how long does it take to load a round???
  17. This is a whole hornets nest!!! The calibres are what they are due to official idiots AND the desire to kill quickly. Put simply, the authorities want the deer to die quickly (quite rightly) even when you shoot it up the arse..so overpowerd calibres are directed. Bullet placement is, and always will be the key, I have known a red to run over a mile with a .308 hole through him!! An accurately placed shot from MUCH smaller calibres will "instantly" kill even a Red Stag! Discuss
  18. The Deben Tracer Max is DEFINATELY NOT the best lamp you can get but it does offer a good beam and good value for money in my book. The version with the dimmer will give you longer battery life, longer lamp life and scare the quarry less at times, personally I would suggest the dimmer every time! Check around on the web for the best price, you will probably be able to do a "bit" better than that!
  19. Morgan...Morgan...Morgan...that is a pressure valve!!! It is NOT the bottle pressure...look on the BOTTLE for numbers!!!!
  20. Look for some more numbers...they don't come in 400bar for Breathing Air, if it says 400 that is some sort of test pressure it has been exposed to..it is not a filling pressure!!!!
  21. dont no mate a can get it fill just take it 2 the gun shop amd its only a ten 2 fill Morgan...how about slowing down a bit and trying English, us old folk can't understand!! Also ...your bottle is NOT 400Bar, it will be 232 or 300, take another careful look. Cheers
  22. Mark01856 jamie g has been very helpful to you! The only thing I would add is get rid of any pictures of you shooting game birds with your air rifle, if you apply for a FAC and your FEO sees any of those your chances of getting your certificate will diminish!!
  23. Never stop shooting foxes..... dogs, vixen, pups! In principle you will never stop them, simply get a bit of relief for a while until the family "next door" realise there is space and food available, then it starts all over again!
