Yep.... I'm absolutely choked   , looks like I'll have to go over to the airgun section and ask for help, but my posts make sense, add up, don't contradict themseles and I don't SHOUT, or swear like some. I think you ought to read your original post again, it does not make sense, you contradict yourself! And while we are talking what has it got to do with this thread anyway and why isn't it in the Airgun section? It's a simple point..if you want to throw all your toys out of your pram because you can't understand what people are saying then that's your problem! (I blam

Unless I have missed something the 17HMR an 17MACH2 are available as a 452 & 453 and only available in two formats... The American is ONLY available with a Light barrel. The Varmint is ONLY available in a Heavy barrel If you like a heavier gun or throw a LOT down the range consider the Varmint, if not get the American! Actual general day to day performance will be the same! The Varmint is an American, if that makes sense. I have one and on long walks across fields it does become quite heavy, but that said it's still a cracking rifle. My mate has a 452 American w

With a normal Air rifle, springs or valves as supplied with the gun will be built to give just under 12 ft lb WHATEVER the barrel length! The main barrel length issue will revolve around accuracy not power, unless of course you start with a long barrel and cut it right down, then you will have power and accuracy issues! Barrel length will depend on your preference and what you want to do with the gun, simple as that!

So why did you leave the 20 then, you seem to be contradicting yourself!!! what were you shooting them with?.... shot 28 but left 20 you knew were female...how did you know??? Right in WHAT way am i contradicting myself ????????????an i shot em with my logan s16 and a mk1 rapid7 20 AND yes we shot 28 and LEFT THE ONES THAT WE THOUGHT WERE FEMALES YOU NO THE ONES THAT WERE CLEARLY BIGGER THAN THE REST THE ONES THAT WERE NEAR ON DRAGGING THERE BELLYS ON THE GROUND The bits I conveniently coloured for you!!! an before anyone starts on what time of year it is .If i dont go kil

There are plenty of situations where a .22LR is not only very capable but also safer than a centrefire on foxes, nobody is suggesting you should be pointing one at charlie 200 yards or more away with a sub, but a a blanket statement that they are no good and should not be used is innapropriate. I think a .243, on the whole, is f*****g stupid on a fox, it is MASSIVE overkill but I don't keep shouting at everyone telling them not to use it!! If it works for you and the situation dictates it, (just like a .22LR) then it is right, so lets stop these lectures which frankly I struggle to und

A day of mixed fortunes but always fun when you are out in the country (although it didn't feel that way early on sheltering from the rain)!!! And just to add the bits in RED above!

I can but suggest you read this article again a bit more carefully, some of what you said does not add up, and what on earth was it all about anyway if it leaves this many questions?? You seem to suggest you have shot a lot in the field..what have you found, I struggle to believe anyone with field experience can be asking some of these questions???

The good nights come, and just as unexpetedly as the bad nights sometimes, 5 is well worth a pat on the back!!

It's a problem question but the simple fact is there are a number of Hawke and Nikko Sterling (probably a few others as well) that can offer a very acceptable package for £!

I find myself agreeing with many people today (must stop this), 2 good responses already and I too would suggest you will have a problem with fine reticles in dim light or under the lamp, problem is, if you are pushing the HMR to 150 yards on birds you will also have a problem with heavier reticles. Style and size will become a very personal as well as practical choice, that's why there are so many types out there. ATB...I would be interested to hear what you settle on and how you get on with it

Absolutely 100% NOT for shooting GAME! A 12ft lb Air Rifle is not deemed suitable for GAME. Depending upon the tools I am out shooting with and the quarry, I do sometimes carry my BSA Magnum in .177 for point blank dispatch if required. Loaded with Bisley Premier at 11.27g, and pointed, it works well, but it is NOT a hunting tool! Cheers

This all comes down to personal choice and there are those that will argue with me here, but I struggle with a FAC springer. Forget it and buy a PCP if you want to go FAC!!!
-
Doesn't work that way with semis, they all cause more grief than bolt, but the 10-22 has a wide choice and massive aftermarket and custom parts availability...it's just the way to go really!!

All round some fairly sensible answers I'd say, but you have not made it clear if this is Target or Field work??? With the 2 calibres mentioned I obviously assume it is field work! 1000 and 400 in 3 years ...now that's a difficult one, I do know a few people who use less, but I and many others use substantially more....don't expect that will be a problem though...problem could be with deer though...more and more there seems to be a requirement for a DSC or a Mentor for deer although fox is commonly granted for .243 without! An Open after 3 years would normally be granted if the FAC

If you are talking for an air rifle I would suggest the Combro CB 625. Mine cost about £35 around 8 or 9 years ago, still going strong and I don't think they cost any more now. You will not beat it for the money and unless you want to get involved in serious ballistics and/or top competition most airgunners will find it more than adequate!

2 Very good responses so far in my opinion. I use the Velocitors and find they arrive with a serious thump BUT, the HP is not that big and the speed and copper coat reduces the bullet head spread on impact at times. Sadly as well, the groups do tend to open up a bit at 100 yards. Without doubt these have plenty of power to stop a fox at 100 yards but placement is fairly crucial as they still have a very good chance of going right through without opening up fully! A 40g Sub sonic HP will open up like a mushroom, cause considerable internal damage and quite often stay within the bo

Just as Mr L said..it's what we had, we were after Charlie and deer, the evening turned absolutely filthy with howling rain and wind and cold and we were all sheltering...Mr L spotted Charlie through the mire of the weather and got closer and closer, Charlie didn't move..he was sheltering too..job was done with what was to hand..thats the way it goes sometimes........most of the medium/large wildlife we take on this land is between 50-200 yards, centrefires are the tools of choice for this, not shotgun!

MUCH stronger than Falcons plastic ones...got a feeling these could outlast me, especially the stainless and brass!

Yep ..it is true.. the black plastic one is courtesy of Falcon...the stainless, aluminium , copper and brass are courtesy the great craftsman FUBAR!!!!!

I think the mags are about £50...... and yes there is a Theoben users site, I have all the info at home so I will post it later for you ...on my brothers PC at the moment as I needed to get some pictures taken over here!!! See the new thread any time now..........
