  1. Hate to disagree with Mark Williams about the Remington Express. At my local range, I've met loads of guys who have bought Expresses and only one who kept it. To a man, they found the trigger awful and so it;s difficult to become consistent. Most of them tried the HW99. All have loved them. £50-£60 for a reasonable scope and Bob's your Uncle.
  2. HW99, light, accurate and can be used without a scope.
  3. Eyoyo from Amazon. £65-£75. Works pretty well.
  4. Had a go on the Red Wolf. Almost impossible to miss. Looks cool but I'd get bored after an hour.
  5. That TX was stunning and the PS wasn't exactly a munter. Strange that Hawke think that £447 is a special price. You would need to be special needs to pay that. You can get that scope for £425 on Ebay. Weather was awesome though. I had to stop myself buying a Nite Site. Overall a good day out.
  6. I was just saying it's more about the mounts on the 99s IMHO. You can fit a lot of scopes successfully with good mounts.
  7. I use a Fire Wolf 5-15x50 FFP on my 99s and it works fine. But I had to get decent adjustable mounts with a stop pin to prevent the scope walking backwards with recoil.
  8. Has anyone tried building up the grips on synthetic stocks? If so, how and what did you use?
  9. You can always tell a Yorkshireman, but not much!
  10. Personally, I wouldn't buy a second hand bottle without an inspection/ test. Also, unless it's insanely cheap (btw that would also raise a few worries) I wouldn't buy a bottle older than 5 years old. Another thing, is the reason you're talking about a 12l bottle that that's what is available. A more modern 7l/300bar bottle wouldn't be much different in terms of number of fills but be smaller and lighter. That aside, I would be extremely careful about buying used without testing irrespective of whether it's in date or not. Please be careful and good luck.
  11. Be aware of the age of the bottle. You'll have trouble getting it filled over 15 years. Probably wise to get it inspected.
  12. What's the reason for shortening the barrel?
  13. Not for a sub 12 rifle. I couldn't see where they went.
  14. No use to me. Someone else may aswell get some use.
  15. Glad to report the sidewinder FFP is spot on. Very easy to use, Turrets are bang on and the range markings are accurate aswell. I'm looking forward to getting used to it and getting the most out of it.
  16. I cut a coil off and managed to get down the range yesterday. Glad to report that the twang has gone and it is shooting as sweet as a nut at about 11.3 ft/lbs. Thanks for all the advice guys.
  17. TbT kit fitted no problem. Tried to chrony it this morning but it wouldn't cock. Iv'e removed both preload washers and it shoots beautifully with no excessive vibration and no horrible twang. Unfortunately, it chronys at 13.1Ft/lb. I don't want to take the slip washer out (I doubt it would be enough anyway) so it looks like I need to cut a coil off. Will it affect the temper of the spring?
  18. Anyone interested in a 200 tin of Rabbit Mags? I bought them on a whim without realising they're for 25J rifles. A mate and I fired a couple each for a giggle from our TXs but apart from that it's a full tin. PM me if interested. They'll only go in the bin otherwise.
  19. It's definitely First Focal Plane. The difference is that the reticle changes size with zoom which means the mildots stay true at whatever magnification you want. Yes, lines of the reticle get thicker, the further you zoom in which may become a slight issue with small targets. I have 2 FFPs. The first is a Chinese "Fire Wolf 5-15x50" which works well although the reticle takes a bit of getting used to. (£92 from AliExpress). Agood scope for the money. The second is a sparkly new Hawke30 Sidewinder 6-24x50FFP. A much better scope but a much bigger pricetag (£425 from Ebay). There is a
