  1. I went for the 6-24x50 in the end (£425 from ebay). I fitted it yesterday and tested it. Great scope although the glass starts to get a tiny bit milky at the upper end of the mag range and the reticle lines are a bit thick in the same area. Because of this, I would recommend the 4-16x50 model for air rifles. Turrets are spot on. Range markings appear to be pretty accurate but more testing is needed. Build quality looks and feels good. Ocular focus, mag and parallax dials firm but very smooth. IR is very good and illumination is even across the reticle. All in all, I'm very impressed
  2. Thanks for all the advice guys, especially Si. I decided to go with a TbT drop-in kit. It went in easily enough (I had to take 1mm off the end of the spring guide). I'll chrony it tomorrow and see how it does.
  3. Cheers for the info mate. I tested mine and and I am very happy with the consistency although mine's running a bit lower power (10.66 ft/lb). This is plenty for me as I'm more interested in accuracy (last week I shot a 5 shot group less than 10mm at 50m). To be honest, it's just the noise that irritates me and maybe the power will come up a bit with a better fitting spring guide and top hat. I have a lathe, so I'm going to have a go myself. If it doesn't help, how much did it cost for the work you had done?
  4. I agree. I've got a piece of Delrin, so I'll have a go at making a new spring guide. Shame that Air Arms didn't think of it.
  5. Are there any comments as I'm seriously thinking about getting one for my TX. They are expensive but the specs are good. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
  6. I just fitted an Adjustable Trigger by Rowan Engineering because, as good as the stock one is, I have long fingers and there isn't enough adjustment for position. Anyway, It arrived super quick and fitted perfectly. Adjustment was a little bit fiddly but not difficult. Now the trigger is awesome. A bit pricey at £44 but worth it to me as I haven't pulled a shot since (kiss of death). I highly recommend it.
  7. Stripped the TX down and found there's no room for a spring sleeve but there's a loads of play between the spring and spring guide (about 1mm). No sign of wear. Also, the spring ends looked like they'd been "Dressed" by a shaved ape. I absolutely love the rifle but I'm really disappointed with Air Arms quality control. Has anybody else had similar issues? I've polished the spring ends and relubed. It's better but still not good.
  8. I meant that because of modern target turrets and ballistic calculators etc, you shouldn't need to worry about holdovers.
  9. Are FFP scopes worth it for sub 12 air rifles?
  10. Cheers, I'll have a look around. There's a video on Youtube by "Shooting at Dawn" on the subject.
  11. Cheers, I understand but it's a horrible noise in my opinion. I was just wondering if it could be reduced. So you wouldn't recommend a sleeve then?
  12. Cheers for the info lads. Just ordered one but it was £17.18 posted. I'm sure i've seen a video of Davy Thomas fitting one on Youtube.
  13. Sorry for the delay folks. Also for bad quality reticle pics but I haven't got a scope cam. Anyway, the scope is a Fire Wolf 5-15x50 ffp IR with 1/8 MOA lockable turrets and each division on the reticle is 1/2 Mil. It's a bit odd that it's numbered every 5 division. Anyway, when you get used to it there's no problem. The glass is far better than I expected (not perfect but very usable). The turret tracking is pretty good. On the negative side, it's too easy to upset the Zero (IMHO), Mil reticle and MOA turrets (my Hawkes are the same) and I had to shim/fit adjustable mounts to both o
  14. I would like to fit an adjustable butt pad. Rowan Engineering make a beauty but really expensive. Any suggestions for a cheaper alternative?
  15. Would it be a good idea to use beeswax on the TX? I like the colour a lot but would like a slightly silkier sheen.
  16. I've recently bought a TX and was very impressed with the ease and accuracy. One small niggle is that it makes a hell of a crack so I fitted a Deben Whisper 180 silencer. Result, crack gone but now I can hear a weird, dull boing from the spring. It's nothing like the twang on my HW97. It was so horrible, I took it off as I'd rather have the crack than a comedy wet fart. Any ideas, maybe a spring sleeve?
  17. Nice of you to compliment the rifle, thanks. What do you reckon to the 99s? It shoots great but I bought it thinking I might get it IMPed by SFS. Given the luke warm response to SFS on this forum, I'm not sure anymore. Thoughts?
  18. I found this on EBAY for a third the price of Rowan Engineering. Not nearly as good but a bit of elbow grease with autosol and dremel will be pretty good.
  19. Anyone interested in H&N Rabbit Magnums .177? I bought them not realising they need 25J or more. FAC? Too scared to try them in my sub 12s. Brand new tin of 200, 15.74Gr, 4.50. They're F'ing huge.
  20. Fighting In a Built Up Area.
