  2. I did a thread last year or the year before on the same line. I went to skin it and the fecking thing started twitching and moving but it was already gutted. Strange.
  3. Me and my mate opened up loads of the internet betting accounts to get the free bets. Got some cracking starts including a free £10 with ladbrokes, put £3o into a will hill acc and got £60 free bet a nd a free £5 with stan james.
  4. BIG MOLE! Congrats! I had a look through the ones i caught today. One was bigger than the rest but was only about a piddling 7". Well done mate!

  8. Ive never heard of paper pot makers until today. Anyone got one? any good? they sound ideal! I was using peat pots last year but they dried out a little too easily but paper pots from newspaper sound brill. Biodegradeable and free!

  10. Me and my lad saw it last night. He said it was a meteor, i thought it was a firework but realised it wasnt when it just carried on! It was flying north to south. Beautiful, big glowing tail!

  12. I dont find him funny whatsoever. Frankie Boyle is the funniest man alive. FACT.
  13. I think rescue hens are a good thing. Most of the poor sods have been locked in cages or sheds all their lives and have never been for a scrat around in the mud. They still lay , just not as profficient as they once were but will still be good for another year.
  14. Sounds a big spot! Mine is 30m by 10m which is ample for me for veg and about 20 hens. Ive been hit twice by early frosts and been wiped out so im in no rush to plant. This year im concentrating on basics. Every year i grow broad beans even though nobody eats them, our lass puts them in curries etc just to use them up plus i do loads of peas and fancy veg which is a waste of time really so im planting LOADS of potatoes and onions (we eat loads) then it will be just a few turnips, caulis, cabbage, leeks. Thats it i think for veg apart from my asparagus trench which should give me my first edib
  15. The country would be fu*ked if THLers ruled! Im guessing learning how to spell would be banned in all schools first!

  18. Making lemon curd. Not saying my lemon curd is the best in the world but........Hang on i forgot, it IS the best in the world!t

  19. I grew some rockets last year. They were good potatoes, i liked them. Only downside to me was the worms seemed to like them, and i had quite a few with holes in, but i will be getting some more. Im going mainly with charlottes again this year. They were the best pots ive grown so far. Not sure if these are jus suited to my soil or area but they grew a dream with no problems.
  20. Near a nuke plant? Im guess it would be safe but i wouldnt risk it either! Seymours "self sufficiency" is a cracking book, its THE bible for this sort of thing. I bet you will pick it up on fleabay for peanuts.
  21. Foraging is great fun! I love it. Mushrooms are good as you can get a bumper harvest but be careful obviously. It wont be that long until wild garlic is about, thats always worth a good carrier bag full. Dont forget about brambles and wild fruit too! Are you near the sea? there literally loads to be foraged on the seashore! A word of warning though, acorn coffee is fecking rank. Trust me on this and dont bother!
  22. Step in the right direction if thats right.
  23. Just googled it and copy/pasted. BBC film crew working for TV programme 'Tomorrow's world' set traps near Kellas, and achieved success at catching the first live specimen of the 'Kellas cat'. (Screened in documentary - 'On the Trail of the Big Cat' 22 nd May1986) The specimen was female, and was taken to the Highland Wildlife Park at Kincraig. Blood sample sent for chromosomal analysis by Dr Fox of Aberdeen University's Zoology Dept. Results from this specimen proved, unequivocally, to be from a wildcat x domestic hybrid.
  24. Another thing! I remember when i was a kid (seventies/eighties) and watched a programme on these cats and im sure they had evidence that there was some black cats roaming loose that werent domesticated but werent panthers. It was "tomorrows world" i think.
  25. I was out mole trapping this morning and saw a big cat run from right to left the next field along. The thing is i saw it a few minutes later and it wasnt a "big cat" in terms of puma/panther but it was a very very big black cat. Could there be a breed of wild black cats that arent moggies but arent the proper big ones that we immediately think of? The cat i saw was of domesticated breeding im sure but if a "towny" for want of a better word saw it they would be shouting they had seen a puma/panther. I think this is because black cats running across fields look bigger, maybe due to colouring c
