  1. I try to get out at first light when possible. Less people about so less distractions and more time for ferreting. Cheers, D.
  2. Good luck to ALL in the comp. May the best dog win! PS Is there an appeal procedure if your dog loses, like a stewards enquiry? I bet there'll need to be next year! Cheers, D.
  3. Give them away to people in your local pub. You'll probably get a pint in return. 2 to 3 quids worth nowadays! PS I presume yoo're over 18. Cheers, D.

    And again, RIP Bess.
  5. Looks a bit big for MarkBrick's dogs! Cheers. D.
  6. Jimny goes anywhere almost anything else can. Less ground clearance than some but narrower track so can travel one side in the rut and one side on the centre of the track. Cheers, D.
  7. yea we didnt take him serious,,i still dont know which dog is in You'll have a helluva time de-training your dogs to stop retrieving, and thereby saving precious energy for the next run! Best of luck mate, sure you'll be there or thereabouts. Cheers, D.
  8. He's certainly thrown back to the Border in his ancestry. Looking proper. Cheers, D.
  9. It's game culling in Africa next week. Cheers, D.
  10. As the title says, Aussie Trawlers, Channel 4 now. Cheers, D.
  11. Not fished it for over 25 years but then they were great bream waters, especially Loch Maben. Decent roach and pike also and it's a nice spot to be at. Check out Caeverloch Wildfowl trust if you get time. Cheers, D.
  12. My 3 year old castrated hob is a cracking worker and is the most lively fert in my run. Try yours together with one other ferret and see if he follows it into the hole. Give him a few chances but it might be "bye bye" time for him. Try to rehome to a pet home before the ultimate decision is made. D.
  13. Give em James Well-Beloved ferret food. Available from all but the crappiest pet shops. Any ferret will eat it when hungry and is designed for a ferrets dietary needs. Only down side is that they produce more, and brown, soft shite than the black oily stuff they do when fed on fresh food. I've been feeding mine fresh mackerel for the last 2 days and they've only shat half as much! Cheers, D.
  14. I was (still am) a numptie with all electrical stuff. First digital camera was a Casio summat or other. Whatever your budget, get one of those. Dead user friendly and as and when you upgrade, they are all basically the same controls. Latest one is an XLM 10. It's great. Hope this helps. Cheers, D.
  15. think that tear came directly from your heart... R.I.P Butch....GONE BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN Sorry mate, RIP Butch
  16. Was at the vets for a jill jab a few weeks ago. Lady in the waiting room asked if I worked my ferrets. Obvious answer was yes. Come to our farm, she says. Another 150 acres to go at. Lovely! Cheers, D.
  17. 200 beans Nice. I thought hancock charges 175? Or is this hancock lines off someone else? Not sure about stud fees. He is quite a nice chap though, give him a ring on 01213537170 and ask him. He charges the same for all his pups @ £200. Although he does have some older pups that may be cheaper, dont really know, didnt ask. regards Rick Oh, Well he must have upped the price since i last rang up. ATB with the pup, Marcus Not a bad price increase, I paid £175 for my pup over 7 years ago and £ for my first in 1983. Cheers, D
  18. Should have had chance for a beer with MT last night (Mon) but he was zig- zagging the County doing wasps! Cheers, D.
  19. Can't believe no-one up there can help you out without any hassle! Cheers, D.
  20. Well he probably wouldn't get a job as a train driver, if he cannot distinguish red/green amber etc. I believe that colour blindness varies in what part of the spectrum you cannot see. I have a mate (over 60 now) who has a degree of this, he has managed to obtain a private pilot's license and even a night rating, as he can distinguish red and green. There are various colours he cannot see, and is barely able to wire a 3-pin plug without a bit of guidance. He has just had to adapt to the condition, he says his colour perception has not altered much all his life. Won't get a job in technica
  21. Good points well made... the white eye comes from the collie and has no effect on its eyesight.... Unless you cross a merle with a merle, and end up with a blind and deaf litter! Cheers, D.
  22. yea dave dog caught both rabbits, but i had to tell him his dog caught em cause he couldnt see that far Funny how most of the shots include your dogs! Cheers, D. PS. Saw Tony tonight, asked him to look out for my jumper! Georgina found the rabs in the porch.
  23. It was H and S and also a "decision" made by someone that it "had no relation to Military training of today." Missus's dad used to be a Field Gun Crew Man and attends the reunions every year. When they are down here, it's great to see these 70 + guys acting like they are in there 20's! As said earlier, proper blokes. They got the best grub in their section when selected for crewing. They are going to, or have already re-introduced a "watered down" version for future tatoos. HTH. Cheers, D.
  24. September is a good month to start serious ferreting. You can wear shorts then down here as well. Cheers, D.
