  1. I'd say foxes just because you can't say it's dead until it's in the dogs jaws, I don't agree what's been said with the Earth dog part though an average terrier should stay with a fox assuming it's good at its job and holds it at bay I wouldn't say a fox is the true test for a good Earth dog but like what's already been said each to there own, I'm happy with just lamping rabbits nowadays with my dogs not really fussed wether the ban got repealed or not
  2. Just spent a week in Devon in the wollacomb area and what a place it is, I thought I lived in the countryside but that place is something else, wildlife everywhere in 5 days I seen reds, fallow, roe, sika and muntjac, it's mainly made up of grass fields not many crops fields and the hedge rows are as wide and as thick as a tranny van, basically the opporsite to where I live where it's mainly crop fields and sheep fencing, pointless subject but just thought I'd say I'd love to live there haha

  6. It's hard to go out round here and not see a munty every year there seems to be more and more of them, roe included there's a place not far from me the wood is riddled with muntjac it's always held the odd roe but not many, last winter I did a fair bit on the lamp around there and everytime I went up I seen somewere between 5 and 10 roe in the surrounding fields, penda I remember speaking to martin last year because I was driving through your area on my way to work and seen two roe in a field right near the motorway
  7. Interesting point it explains a lot! I find stuff like that fascinating
  8. Abit off the subject of lurchers but thought I'd just post this photo as I know some aren't lucky enough to see scenes like this, there is a lot of muntjac around here but on three different occasions in the past two weeks I have seen muntys in places iv never seen them, they seem to spreading around here at the minute, I spotted this little bugger in the field as I was driving up towards it I pulled the van over and turned the ignition off, it did nothing more than picked its head up and trotted right upto is no more than ten yards away before walking back to the over hanging tree where it st
  9. I can point you in the right direction of a well bred solid blue bull greyhound dog pup if you like
  10. Personally I'd pay more attention to the older bitch than the pup by that I mean does she tolerate the pup? I'd introduce by having the pup on the lead and the older lurcher roaming free see how the older one reacts when the pup is hanging off her cheek lol the id snap and whack won't do the pup any harm it's only a concern when the older one is doing it with the intent to hurt or kill you'll know the difference, of the older ones ok then let the pup off dont corner them together make sure the older bitch has plenty of room to escape the pup if it's doing her head in, if she's still fine with

  15. Iv been in the lurcher game since I was about 7 years old Iv never once had to go to the vets for an injury on any of mine or any of them I grew up with, if the injury is going to ruin the dog for life it's pts if the injury is something the dog can get over after abit of tlc and patients then it's done by either myself or someone I know, I'm not saying iv not had dogs get on abit of trouble I even had one break it's neck running a rabbit but touch wood I am lucky enough to stay well clear of the vets

  17. My old man has a first cross bedlington whippet anyone steps foot on the premises she wakes the whole street up and as proven she will bite and shake, anybody ever had any experience with beddy crosses making good guard dogs? I know there not the most intimidating dogs to look at and I'm not thinking of having one it's just a question
  18. I'm torn between a well gsd off my mate on here and a curcasian shepherd dog iv Hurd good and bad things abit this breed my uncle use to have one in his road side cafe with him back in the day and he would have it on a chain round the back to protect his generator from the pikeys taking it whilst a girl ran the cafe over night, now he keeps one as a pet he never had any issues with them and his kids but then again iv Hurd there not very good with kids, whatever dog I have I will be assisted with in the training programme purely because although I would never leave the dog alone with my kids I'
