For me when bringing a pup on the most important start to a working dogs life is to let he or she be a pup I don't do any training or anything until there atleast 4-5-6 months depending on the dog, at 11 weeks old the bitch I kept back get a little lead work once or twice a week at the most the main thing at this stage for me is playing and giving them good food. What about everybody else?

Every rabbit she does see gee her on make some sort of noise I tend to use 'psssst' after 3 or 4 times everytime you make that noice her ears will prick up and she will become as sharp as a razor, iv had to deal with this problem if you like with a few digs and it's always been when iv started them in the day before iv worked them on the lamp, Atb

I had a wheaten cross funny with dogs in general mostly big dogs but he was half bull, iv had bull crosses do damage to other dogs one ending a dogs career all be it unintentionall iv had a bull grab hold of a beddy whippets head but the beddy whippet was jumping all over her, and to be fair iv had more experience whitnessing collie crosses being dog aggressive than any of the other crosses, my brother had a wheaten greyhound some years ago soft as shit with other dogs, insurpose it's different dogs and the way there brought up?

Collie Crosses To Clever Or Too Slow
Shaddy93 replied to springfield's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
For me it must do the same but with manners e.g retrieve, work to heel, and not be a whinging fecker while it at it!!! I dont think something you have put into the dog can decide wether it's an all rounder or not, if a dog back in the day before the ban could catch a rabbit but just hold it in its mouth without bringing it back and then go into the next field catch and dispatch of a fox without a bother but then sh*t in your van on the way home, pull a deer and bark through the hole course, and catch a hare in the daytime along with pulling things out of holes, I think that is the all round -

for most it means anything edible including birds. Iv not seen many any type of lurcher picking birds up, usualy collie x and whippets I see. If that's what people class as the all round lurcher then yeah I guess a collie greyhound isn't a bad choice, I personally have a different view on the all round lurcher but I'm sure it's down to personal preference -

I agree with most of what you have said apart from the 'all round lurcher' part I don't think on average the collie greyhound is an all round lurcher, but then again I guess it depends what people see as an all round lurcher -

True there are other crosses that will pull up on rabbits, again iv seen a beddy whippet greyhound owned by me pull up on them even though she was dynamite on rabbits but I put it down to being too unfit for a long nights lamping, from my experience and from what I hear off other dog lads though the collie cross is known for doing this for no apparent reason even though iv seen it happen I won't sit here and slag off collie greyhounds on rabbits because they are experts on them and have been for many years -
Billy is way over 10 years old my old dog would have been 9 this year

Certainly not too slow, deffanitely too clever for their own good though, iv seem a good bitch pull up on rabbits, they don't forget and they sulk like mad there's better crosses out there for any quarry imo -
Is it crossed with a hyena? Lovely markings you won't hear me say this very often about hancock dogs but I like the look of him, looks solidhaha, iv just screen shot this lolWana see him with his ears up he looks like a wild dog. Ye he's pretty robust. I got told 3/4 bred end up to brittle and break, he's took many of tumbles, knocks into trees, and even running amongst rocks. Aw shit coats aswell, but has a thick dense coat. Can't wait for next season, he run a RB at 11 months and looked good. We will see. If he no good, it's back to drawing board, no excuses the way I do things, good g
