I think it’s more the time of year that affects the taste, simply because in cold weather they just lay up on the bottom and taste like shit in the warmer weather they seem to be in the upper layers and taste a lot better, nothing scientific there mind just my own observations, used to get a pound a piece for trout round the pubs and could always sell more than you got but nowadays everything has to be wrapped in polythene and dressed for you ?

Your talking to the bloke that had the only nesting bramblings in the uk in his back yard as well not just one but two or three pairs also probably never recorded before, bit of a pattern emerging, nice one on your cuckoo knowledge mate you’ve obviously spent a fair bit of time studying them I,m always around water so I guess most of what I,m seeing is based around there relationship with the warbler family, really interesting bird been good to see and here quite a few around me this year

Of all the people I,ve met through this journey rick is possibly one of the most honest people, he’s someone I would never even speak with in my normal life, which I also like, meeting people from different walks of life that I would never meet if I never did stuff like this, I also think for you to be making such assumptions about a man you have never spent a second with is more telling about yourself than anyone, that’s why I am always happy to meet people, most turn out to be sound a few I swerve after first contact and one or two loose there arse before arriving which is also very telling,

Mate I’ve said it before but you really do need to give your head a shake, rick attends mountain lion conferences in the states every few years works with people from Africa and India on leopard issues and has been involved with Dartmoor and exmoor zoos for years, no one is interested in lying apart from certain people that actually have nothing to gain, we had our first positive dna hits over 10 years ago, the big surprise to us all is that we managed to publicise it not that we got it, this is a bit of a big step forward if you stop looking for cheats and liars in everything you see ??

It was something I saw on telly many moons ago but it was referring to Reed warblers at the time, but there is more modern research into it

Mate stop dwelling on the end it will only make you worse I have an old mate that was diagnosed with terminal cancer 17 years ago he’s on meds but still rocking on, be thinking of you mate keep your chin up

It’s a deliberate disguise mate, the host only leaves its nest for very short periods of time so the cuckoo does not get long enough to lay its egg, but by buzzing overhead the silhouette gives the impression of a sparrow hawk which makes the parent bird leave the nest for a slightly longer time which allows the cuckoo time to slip in and lay nothing in nature is accidental we just don’t understand it all ??

Sadly mate you have to place the cameras were the action takes place it’s ok hiding them in the middle of no were just to be on the safe side but that don’t always get what your after have had several kills and footprints in this spot over the last few winters I loose a few cameras a year but it’s still a cheap hobby in the overall scheme of things, people pay grands to chase a ball round a golf course and I know what I would rather be doing ?
