  1. ill take a 45yrd shot over a 8yrd shot, going from hold under to holdover at close ranges is a nightmare... at least its plain sailing and plus mil's after the 30's
  2. sure someone will want it jon have you broken the spending ban already atb si
  3. a lot of the lads on here shoot the same sitty tree from the same hide on a regular basis at up to 60yrd and the hunting posts show good results!! cant remember the exact yardage but this was at least 60 it was in a post i did last year at some point! its on an incline the conditions were perfect and it didn't let me have half a dozen pot shots at it... instant dispatch! the shot was taken from under the bush i wouldn't of shot it if id didn't feel confident im not having a go its about how some people choose to hunt atb si
  4. I don't think any of us are but i will admit i have even at 30 yards but quickly backed up with a clean kill so have i and probably most of us on here! a damaged pellet can be an injury at 20yrd so i reload instantly as a mater of corse just in case. and i never shoot anything with my last pellet in the mag!
  5. its all down to confidence and if you don't have it don't do it! if your rifles zeroed at 40yrd and you use mil dots pushing to 60yrd is not a problem ... the problem is windage but if your right on your hold over and at that range its a brain shot its either lights out or a clean miss! just my view and I'm not into injuring animals
  6. I've got a 510 .177 basically the same as 410 just the cocking/loading! its the least pellet fussy rifle I've owned...mine will fire any of the good brands accurately light or heavy! my pref is the jsb heavys but its all down to what suits your style of shooting/hunting.. i recon the L/W barrels are the best on the market happy testing atb si
  7. if i was you it would be the impact... it covers all the bases, wouldn't consider it sub 12 though to much paid for wasted technology! doit
  8. I didn't hear anything else from him Si but I think the issue with adjustment is understandable and I am fine with that plus I now know how to tweek the trigger myself so all is good. It was not until I bought a JSB test tub with the various pellet types in that it really came home that this gun prefers the lighter pellet with both the RS and Express giving the best results. I also bought a tin of JSB heavy to try in the FAC because the 18gr AA Field Heavy is a bitch to get hold of so sticking with JSB and can order from Voymir at much better prices than the shops. Phil PS Just had Ro
  9. Can't argue with that Phil Great bit of sport! Spoke to the farmer at the pig farm Tuesday night, he's well happy with the reduction, I'm not we've hammered it... only got a handful the other night Did rob sort anything out for you?! Atb si

  17. Ok, I'll give it a whirl....... If you can tell me what rifle you're interested in and, what calibre you're thinking of going for, I'll give you a sensible answer I'm assuming when you say 'gas', that were talking about Co2 rifles? .... if so, these can be more limited and prone to power differences than a more traditional springer or pcp. However, they're still a lot of fun and people do hunt with them successfully far too sensible answer jon no ones mentioned fart gas yet
  18. could well be jon the dairy was never a rat perm like the pig farm, they are always there but random and few and far between! id see as many during the day as i would on night ....but i noticed a lot more last week so i said to my mate lets give it a proper session! there were a lot that we didn't retrieve jon and the farmer still puts plenty of poison down for them so hopefully your perm might of picked up too your right about the sticks though, its either a clean mis due to hold over/under or lights out helicopter tail atb si

  21. me and my mate decided to give the pub a swerve tonight! so we went to the dairy for a couple of hours. armed with the .22 cat and my mate had his .177 100ks this is the fist time we've picked any up but a few were shot out in the open and by the look of the farm he's been having a tidy up! not sure on the final count cos there shot all over the place... in tyre heaps and slurry and feed bins, fist time I've used the primos sticks in ages but I've got to admit they may be a pain in the arse to lug about but there were no follow up shots needed tonight so i think they'll be part of the ra
