There's a nuclear reprocessing plant not far from me. It's poured radiative nuclear fuel into the Solway Firth for decades. There were several incidents of dangerous radioactive leaks including a devastating fire. Fishermen like me who are daft enough to stand in the Solway for hours at a time were exposed to it and we are tested from time to time to see how much radiation is in our bodies.
