  1. yes, still top boots! I don't think they are as good as the early ones that had the Velcro strap (Its not the strap that made them superior)!
  2. I've been there and had the heart ache to prove it! If you decide to try a terrier then stick a locator collar on the dog. Its not nice when your pup decides to self enter without a collar!
  3. Get them critters lead trained Honest, we get some bloody nonsense rules here in wales.... bet at least you buggers have to pay for your carrier bags now too!
  4. Don't you expect him to be around next season? look a tidy dog
  5. I know a few farmers who have been "banned" from keeping stock, but then they just put the business in the wifes name and carry on regardless....
  6. I had a "second hand one" about 12 years back and she was pretty handy on all edible stuff, and loved RUNNING foxes, killed a few but ran loads to ground (ideal for me but not everyone)
  7. I knew there must be someone out there lol! cheers for replys dudes
  8. Do many people use ferrets for ratting these days? I used to do a fair bit a few seasons back and then a few lads started to give me a hand but their dogs weren't broken to ferrets.... so to keep my ferrets safe we used smokers, then 10years and a few generations of ferrets down the road and my ferrets, although they are pretty handy rabbiters, they really aren't into getting bitten! So basically im planning ahead and wondering if theres anyone with any tidy little rat munching jills out there planning a litter in the spring? Cheers for reading folks!
  9. Always wondered how cats caught moles!
  10. Have you thought of sticking a harrier dog over her mate? I know where there's some good ones
  11. Recently had a charter boat trip off Anglesey, and had some good drifts around southstack. Caught so cracking Pollack, ballans and cuckoo wrasse. I'm now wondering if anyone knows if you can fish it from the shore, the climb down looked a bit hairy, but could it be done with kit? Cheers
  12. It depends how you like your lurchers to react with you.... imo border collies are more eager to please and sycophantic types, beardies are more independent and welsh collies shag the sheep instead of rounding them up.....
  13. could you send me a pic please mate, I have sent you my number
  14. take a trustworthy, stock broken marking dog
  15. My first lurcher was given to me by my mate, around 15 years ago. she was a 1st cross collie greyhound. Took everything with her that I wanted to in those days. And I was up to allsorts
  16. OK, boys.................................... Edited, all classifieds free or not must be place in the classified section
  17. Never lost one working, but have had a few escape from hutches when I should have known better, but even had most of those back. The more you handle them the better they will be for working so don't worry about that. Just try n keep them a bit slim and not as fat as teddy bear!
  18. Could do with one of the to keep the mrs in the kitchen while I feck off up to scotland!
  19. Fckin hell mate, gutted pal. He is up there hunting a few critters he put there himself!
  20. A lad in work was showing me what he uses and it looks basically like a rambo knife, with the handle offset like the handle on a bayonet. just wondering if anyone has tried one?
  21. knowledge improves over time. Don't get me wrong, i still feed loads of flesh n tripe to my dogs, but look at how boxers/athletes train and eat now compared with only 20-30 years ago and theres a big difference
  22. I understand about ideally dispatching on site, but i believe its illegal to shoot within 50ft of a road. nowhere in my garden is! But i can easy enough disguise the trap
  23. Even if she sees the sitter don't slip her, walk her up to it till it makes a move. I find it really confuses a green dog as when the nice juicy squatter suddenly disapears, then the dogs looking at you not the beam as the "easy" rabbit makes an easy escape.... as everyone says pick your rabbits, but know find out what you need to look for!
