They used to send them out in packs to attack jap patrols. after a while they stopped coming back to base. Why? Coz the Japs had packs of Labs and these were attacking and killing the GS! Strange but true. How the fek do train a dog to attack a jap and not a white guy? Rgds Swampy Here endeth the first ning

longdog13 36
rottweilers are useless recently bought a german sheppard off Fordie a member on here worth every penny and definitely doing its job Wouldn't say useless matey, i've worked protection dogs, i had both a shepherd and a rotie, the shepherds prey drive is immense, i agree, but a rotties durability and fearlessness has alot of use. Terrier man 38
I voted Rottweiler but I rate schnauzers a better guard dog. They ar used in germany by the police as they use there weight to control people not there bite unless realy put in there place, which saves alot of law cases against them if the person turns out to be inocent. I myself have a standard schnauzer and he is second to none as guard dogs go . He has unbelivable hearing and is like a dog that never sleeps.
scothunter 12,609
Id say rhodesian ridgeback,as for geese ballantnes whiskey bond in scotland have geese as guards have done for many years now.
Bulldogman 55
Most of the breeds mentioned can be good guard dogs but i think te problem lies in finding a good specimen of any of the breeds. A good apbt is more likely to want to play with people, most of the aggressive ones were fear biters and despite the myth that many pit dogs which displayed this trait were not used at stud, many were. Certainly in the 's in the uk anyway? For me a good guard dog is one which can be around people and switch on as a situation arises, it can be the best guard dog in the world but if you have to lock it away all day it aint much use. My ab suits me fine, 95lb fit muscle and teeth, doesnt bark the place down so i know if he does there is a reason for it, no massive exersize requirements meaning i wont get burgled while i am out with him and enough ofa visual deterent to put off most chancers. He has been tested in the real world when some twat tried to mug my father who had the dog on a long lead out of site. The dog did his job well but my father wouldn't let him finish the guy!!! BROCC who is your dog bred from?
