Four of us manage to fill a 240l bin to the brim with plastics and cans every fortnight.., frightening how much we get through. I know, depending on the number living in the household, my council would supply and uplift a larger bin. Might be something to look into? Maybe tell them you’ve taken in half a dozen migrants and you can’t keep up with the mess they make.
WILF 52,187
I have to say, one of the few “good” green things they have done is the plastic bottle recycling machines in every supermarket here….. They charge a small surcharge when you buy (between 10 and 25p depending ) and then when you take them back you put them in this machine and it scans the label and gives you the money back. its been great for my little lad as I use it for his pocket money, he collects up the plastic bottles we use round the house and then every couple of weeks I take him and he cashes them in….its an eye opener how much you use really because 2 or 3 weeks will get him €15 to €20 Once he can drive I’ll get him out on the scrap ! lol lol Mind you, they have had trouble in Dublin as the junkies are pulling all the bins out all over the show searching for bottles to cash in…..but, from a recycling point of view it’s worked a treat.
