I've only ever been on 1 dig with a Bedlington it was a 18month old bitch and it was it's 3rd dig on the others dd it's job brilliant but that was some 20 odd years ago only 1 I've seen to ground always fancied a go with 1 but think ud be hard pressed to find a true workin beddy most been crossed wi fell or lakey

Been out with 2 members off here....the one lads bitch was 8/9 yr old and did 7/8 hrs to ground,under some old oaks/sycamore around an old dried up flight pond...ground was like bell iron,some of the worst ground I've dug (end of August time)and it was a 'midnight manoeuvre' job with the keeper..I've witnessed quite a few graft ,they don't look anything like them dogs above,still some lads keeping them right

Heard of a few bedington keepers that have dogs that could be dug to.Funnily enough they were all very private and only ever went digging on their own as had nothing to prove to other digging lads

Back in the day people cared more for performance than pedigree as soon as you start fussing about appearance something else has to go which is were we are

I remember meeting an old guy many years ago and he told me they used to bring their Lakies over from Cumberland to Northumberland to cross them with Beddy’s to “put a bit more fire in them “ !
