When my nieces were at school in New Zealand, Japanese was the foreign language on the curriculum.

My grandsons school has French and Japanese on the curriculum.

Id far rather they were taught one of the Chinese languages as I think Japans influence on the world is declining, whereas Chinas influence is rapidly expanding.

I used to know an ex German prisoner of war who was captured in a sub in the Clyde of all places.

Anti German feeling was strong after the war and he didn't help himself by applying to join the Ex Service club.

He actually got in. But everybody else used to walk out when he came in. Until they got fed up of leaving their beer and it all died down.lol
