The same tracks as the 60’s

Definately lack the “hardiness” of the old type non-peds.

Id put that down to we used the dogs for dual purpose; coursing, ferreting, lamping through the week and racing at the week ends.

Now they wouldn’t dream of using their dogs for hunting , they are single minded at getting the fastest dog possible over a 150 yards straight track and winning a Racing Champion title. 
They get, in my opinion, more injuries, toes, wrists , gracillis, etc than dogs that are worked regularly, but I also put that down to some owners not warming the dogs up properly……..straight out the car and straight into the traps.

Dont get me wrong, there are plenty owners who know how to condition a dog and get it ready for a big race, but to some it’s just a bit of fun and there’s nothing wrong with that.
