I have some fond memories of hunting Hawick in the 90's...

Loved Hawick. Learned an important lesson on this farm. The sheep would sit tight out of the wind and jump up and run infront of the dogs. Learned that there is a difference between broken to sheep and bombproof. The terrier and lurcher in the pictures were 100%, another 1 was not. Another lesson learned, keep your hard earned permission to yourself!

Thats why i did it moneys nothing the bitch did me very well only fair to her to go to a good home. Too many lads run em flat out in winter which is fair enough but then get rid or bang em in kennels for summer

Million % . Too many use their charges , ruin them . Then pass them on . Good dog man sorts his dogs first thing in morning.  Grafts all day then attends to them before having his own dinner.  As I say , respect for doing the right thing

Oddly enough I was talking to the lad who owned her at a funeral recently after not seeing him for many years. The bitch was a rescue, as people would say today, if memory serves he was doing some work at a cat and dog shelter and she came in. Didn't get claimed and so he took a punt. About 6 - 8 months old. Turned out to be a very good punt. He was pleased that I kept some pictures of her.

Anyway, something I had not known, he took her along to a show when she was an old dog and a lad approached him and said that she had been his dog. She had a very distinctive look. No nastiness, his kids had lost her on a walk and he was happy to know that she had survived and ended up in good working home. I asked my old mate if our assumption of collie/whippet/greyhound mix were correct and he confirmed. I just assumed border collie.

I will ask at the next funeral if it was border or beardie, shouldn't be too long the way people are dropping like flies these days 🙂
