Rabbit numbers finally on the incline?

Recommended Posts

How’s everyone doing? Back 15-20 years ago I had multiple accounts on here. Was very friendly with a few names. Met life long friends and had some cracking sport with the dogs.

I haven’t been on here for a while, I presumed with fabeook etc this site kind of fizzled out.

I’m just a law abiding rabbiting man nowadays. Bad time to choose so, with rabbit numbers being on their arse nationwide pretty much.

But the past 2 years I’m starting to notice them again in places they’ve been nonexistent in for 10+ years. I’m my opinion, they are starting to make a return. At least they are around my neck of the woods.

What’s everyone else’s thoughts? Is the humble rabbit making a return?

attached a picture of my 11 month old pup. He’s collie whippet. So far making a prefect rabbit chaser.

The biggest problem we have had 'darn sarf',.. for many years,..is that once you give a farm or estate a good pasting with the dogs, ferrets, nets, traps and snares,.. plus the night shooting,..  the

it sounds a bit sad really, sport gone .

Nice looking pup 👌🏽been a big decline in numbers by me for about 15 or so yrs got worse an worse to the point were I jacked in the end running dogs the last season I worked my bitch I ended the season on 96 lamped rabbits all season I put in the graft I’d walk miles an miles for runs most outings was normally 1 or 2 rabbits in the bag a few blank nights then the following season become my last I started the season with all the enthusiasm in the world I was pulling all nighters looking for runs with little to no return it was like Barron land I come to a conclusion after all these years of running dogs that it is time it is time waisted that I’d never get back and that I could spend the time with my misses and kids instead.still a crazy feeling in season when the night looks right not being out for a shine but who knows if numbers make a return I might make a sabbatical return on the lamp but don’t look like it’ll be any time soon as there’s little to no activity round here of rabbits
