T V charity ads.

Recommended Posts

I'm sick of them. Can we have money for .....snow leopards, kittens with weepy eyes, a kiddie with a cleft lip, a homeless kiddie in danger of abuse, abandoned dogs, abused donkeys, kids without clean drinking water, kids who need eye operations, guide dogs and the one that really pisses me off, an RSPCA inspector, complete with lookalike police uniform, who is so overcome by the plight of a skinny dog that he is apparently weeping.Ffs.

Lots of vulnerable/ skint people are emotionally blackmailed into donating money each month to these charities when they can't afford it. There was a case a year or so back of an elderly woman  who died because she wasn't looking after after herself. Her bank account revealed she was supporting a ridiculous number of these charities.

Giving to charity is fine, I do it myself, but people shouldn't be bombarded with these ads. They are abusive. The charities never show their salary costs and certainly never show their chief execs salaries. Ban them...many are just poverty porn, designed to relieve you of your cash.

I'm of the same opinion, jukel.

These ads, and the general sort of crap on TV these days, is exactly why I hardly ever watch TV anymore.

You do know like 70% of the proceeds usually go right to the pockets of the big wigs putting all those things on don't you ?

PETA is a prime example  non profit and they've been bright up on I don't know how many occasions where the big wigs where Pocketing most of the donations. I mean seriously youd figure with these places getting ten of thousands of dollars in donations they could buy f***ing big ass ranches and just keep all these strays and abused animals there for the rest of their lives happy as hell instead of kill shelters

One thing about not having TV anymore is I don't have to watch that shit. Wifi and my phone or laptop. Got YouTube premium, Netflix, And Pornhub what else does a man need ???

Places like Marie Currie and McMillans shouldn’t need to be charities, they take a huge burden off the NHS with their cancer work, palliative care, end of life care and support of families.

They should be funded, like the NHS from general taxation, not having to depend on charity.

Cheers.

What's the deal with Gt Ormond St children's hospital? Thats obviously a worthy organisation, but it should be supported by government funding. It shouldn't have to have the begging bowl out to Joe Public.

Someone I know is a tin shaker. He told me that 94p out of every pound goes towards administration. Friends  and I who support the Air Ambulance decided, having collected a donation of any denomination, deliver it directly to the Charity hence cutting the middlemen completely out. In our case, Derbs. I totally agree with the comment about in your face begging and abhor it. When every other headline is telling us how our NHS and other institutions are struggling like hell and the inability to book a doctors appointment, why on earth would anyone want to support these charities?  We really need to look after the homeland first. Just a thought. We now have beavers, wallabies, bison and buffalo to mention but a few. This to help our natural habitat??? When will they be begging for funds to look after these? OMO. Jok.

I saw two that had me shaking my head, one was for a charity asking for cash to stop FGM in Africa (not going to happen,it’s cultural) another was to stop girls being married off young in Africa and Asia (again cultural) the people behind the charities must be laughing their socks off while coining it in,I have met charity field workers in different places, hippy dippy student types,I had a girlfriend years ago who worked for an NGO charity, total lefty (good in bed though).
