First go at the the sharks this year, quite start but after moving a couple of mile and restarting the drift we found our targets or they found us, hooked 5 but landed 4 losing a blue after a double hook up and the wire trace cutting line on other, ended the day with 3 blues and one porbeagle all between 80/100lb oh and a mental twat tan lol good day though, tight lines.

Also had our first session on the barbel on Thursday, ended up having a load of small chub and managed one right at the end of our session, nearly lost the rod it flew off fp

Sevens been slow,Not alot of barbel coming out of the Wye the first week,catch reports all over are poor...few people have had 100lb plus bags of chub in a session.... personally I still think the barbel are preoccupied with spawning still...I won't really bother with them till end of August on the Wye,this winter I be back on the Taff,looking to best my PB

Love tench one of the local lakes used to be lifting with them. Tench corner it was known for big tench.

Guy in anglers times 15lb 4oz barbel off Trent mate. Was hoping for a 13lb to beat his PB pulls 2 out on first session. Nice image with them.

Went for a mooch on one of local lakes , feeding a few dog biscuits. f***ing good numbers of commons about. Some big fish here. You can see a few on image under surface , one just showing its self. Found this little one crossing road so helped it across. Lol

Yeah I've not caught one for over 20 year tbf I've only just started fishing again after that amount of time summat 2 do in the summer like

You could well be right pal I havnt heard a lot coming out, one of the boys had two out as the Monnow meets the wye over the weekend but that’s all I’ve heard tbh, seemed to be loads of small chub in the swim, pretty sure there were pike there aswel, the fry were panicking and jumping quite often and big swirls beneath us, might take a few traces and dead bait next time and try that while baiting swim for a bit, never fished the taff for barbel tbh butt, it’s closer to me aswel, how far down you fishing for them if you don’t mind me asking

I run Monmouth and District Angling Club, the Monnow comes under us, there's plenty of pike where the monnow meets the wye and above the  rowing club, above that Glamorgan got a few swims,the rest is mine,mally brook, hadnock rd side 1000yds up to white marker post, is Newport,then its a private syndicate. below the monnow is the Dukes water,which is also under MDAS..only fishable from October 20th to January 18th

Tidy butt I was always told that stretch was free where the monnow meets the wye, last few seasons we’ve been fishing further up into Ross itself though and that’s day ticket there, never been a member of either of them clubs so wouldn’t know.
