I think it's more sinister than that. Police are called for every goddammit incident  now. I suspect its so cops have a record on everybody. Big brother and all that.

When I was a kid and a teenager families sorted out their own shit. Cops were never consulted. Now somebody gives a neighbour a slap and its a police matter. Ridiculous.

 Nobody minds the police when they deal with what they are supposed to. It's this finger in every pie which pisses people off. That and dishonest cops of which there are a good number unfortunately.

Lot of truth in that. At the end of the day the police are an instrument of government the same as the army. If they are told both will turn on the people as they did in the general strike and Peterloo. Don't think the cops are running from muslims though . They were told to ignore grooming and abuse of underprivileged 'problem' kids by politicians. As I said, cops are an instrument of government.

You could have added ; in the 2020's they were skateboarding with green protesters, taking the knee with BLM, asking eco fanatics if they were comfortable and did they need anything as they glued themselves to roads blocking people from going about their business and stopping ambulances taking dying people to hospital, or watching on as environment protestors block fuel depots.......

I never trusted them after the strike even though i had dealings with them for poaching offences before the strike and one thing i did learn from a personal level they always looked after wealthy landowners in the area of South York's i live.
