Even then you should only keep it for as long as it takes you to process whatever work you are doing. With an ongoing contract then obviously you have to keep a bare minimum all the time. Bottom line, he shouldn’t have been able to get access to anything sensitive and it’s totally your responsibility to make sure nobody does. Be careful, don’t know what it’s like post brexit under uk law, but I know prior to brexit the fines are not capped….it can be whatever the court decides and there’s no limit.
