how old for breeding ?

how old does a dog need to be to use as a stud ? iv'e a pedigree working whippet that showing signs of sexual activity  (humping lol )  .

whats morals got to do with it ! he comes from a guy that uses his dogs for working ,I bought him as pup to race him but whats been happening over the last 7mts  I aint had chance to race him, I dont want to get into a pissing contest  I just asked a honest question so if you don't know the answer to the question scroll on by !

Morals have everything to do with it.

Puppy pedlars breed from young, unproven dogs.

Genuine dog men breed from proven, working stock.

No one is trying to be rude. You can breed from your dog as soon as you like if you can find someone willing to use him, he will probably line a bitch by 7/8 months at a push. 
 

However what folk are trying to point out is you’re on a working dog forum and most working dog folk like to have their dogs do some work and prove their worth before using them for breeding. Not all working bred dogs work well, just like not all race bred dogs are any good.
