Rooney was good but I don't think he fulfilled his potential he looked better than Ronaldo when they were both youngsters at utd, but while Ronaldo was training Romney was banging £50 grannies and smoking and boozing. Great player none the less you stood up as soon as he got ball in his early career.

Hmmm record goal scorer for UTD and England is not fulfilling your potential?

I sort of get your point, but he was fit as a fiddle mate...not many put the miles in on the pitch like him...

I guess its human nature to fixate on a few stupid misdeamours and forget achievements most would give their left bollock for!! Lol

No I wouldn’t be able to hold a sports conversation apart from boxing, fishing or hunting  but the rest of it is mental, dogs chase balls not people and you are worshipping people who are massively ov

His dad nicked me when i was young we got chatting about footie he said  " yeah my boy plays for Millwall "...... " well he wont be going nowhere in the game then " i says ☺️

To top it off he wasn't sleeping wearing oxygen masks and getting iced baths, after a match he was snorting an ounce of coke off women's piss flaps. ?

No I know exactly what you mean but he seemed like gazza with a better eye for goal at first it was like he lost his imagination or maybe his flexibility I dunno really but if you'd have asked me when they were both 19 who,LL be the better player is of sworn Rooney at the time

I think Rooney was done growing young mate...he was a man at 16..

Ronaldo was still a bit lightweight and had to get out of bad habits that came with him... his dedication is no doubt a big reason why he is now widely considered the best ever, so I completely get your point.

Rooney actually adapted and adjusted his game pretty much every other season, Ronaldo has only just had to start playing in a different way..body types or fitness regimes? Who knows..but the pair of them together for those few years was a joy to watch...you must of shit yourself as soon as you lost the ball against them, defense to attack in a couple of seconds!!

I think players like Rooney and Owen peaked far too early in their careers....probably the wrong body type for longevity.....too much boys/youth football maybe ?....i know on the continent they refuse to put boys affiliated to pro clubs through the type of competitive club/school/county leagues that we do over here for precisely that reason they dont want all that over playing stress on an undeveloped body.

Owen definitely, I think Rooney was a man early, I'd say he had to adapt his game but was a good enough footballer to play at the top.level for a long time, to think he was playing at 16 and was still at UTD in his 30s is a very good career imo
