I do use flintlocks, they are great. Can't talk about bow hunting, it's illegal. But if it wasn't......

Taliban have signed a peace treaty Gav ,dont think youl need all them now

According to that video it is a voluntary ban they are looking for. None of the shooting organisations are legislators which is a good thing. I am not going to volunteer, but will continue t

It's mined underground but can sometimes be found on church roofs or old buildings. As for what it does after we've shot it, well that's subject to argument but here's part of a report from 1997

Lead shot deposited in fields and woodlands near shooting rangesand intense, upland, hunting adds an enormous tonnage of lead toenvironments, worldwide. This contamination is not remedied bybanning lead shot use only for waterfowl hunting. Lead pelletsdisintegrate extremely slowly, during which time they may beingested from the soil by wild birds, livestock, or silage-makingmachinery, and cause sublethal or fatal lead poisoning. Leadpellet corrosion products contaminate soil, surface waters, andground waters, often exceeding permissible levels. Plants do notconcentrate much lead from the soil, except when grown in acidicsoils of heavily-contaminated shooting ranges. Inheavily-contaminated sites, earthworms ingest leadcompounds which are bioaccumulated in higher consumersof food webs. Non-toxic substitutes made from steelor bismuth are available internationally and areeffective for all types of hunting and targetshooting. Many nations are slow to require their use, despite the marked awareness of the problems of leadshot contamination and toxicosis. This is due tohunters and international sport shooting organizationsopposing the use of non-toxic substitutes and overtemphasis by government agencies on the burden ofscientific proof for every situation, rather thantaking preventative action according to thePrecautionary Principle. The ethical approach ofDenmark and The Netherlands, which banned all uses oflead shot, is advocated as a precedent for othernations to adopt.

Yes concentration. Like anything really.

Rain water run off from land fill sites, err scrap yards, chemical plants and oh yeah nuclear power plants just to name a few.

Run off from landfill, scrapyards and chemical plants is already illegal. The only discharge from nuclear is cooling water which unless there's an accident, is completely separated from the nuclear process.

Like you said, it's down to concentration so maybe the 9,000 tons of lead shot estimated to be used each year is having a detrimental effect?

No I don't thinks so.

And you can't go on the beaches by miles from Dounreay.

I'm glad you mentioned illegal. Something illegal does not stop it from happening. That's called reality. Ideals, idylls and principles tend to struggle becoming reality.

Got a good deal on some #5 lead shot today ?.

Bought another slab of fibre 28g #7.5.

Could of had plastic wads but thought about the environment. That's why I don't use steel....plastic wads. Can you imagine how many plastic wads must be concentrating around the world. Shocking. You can pretty much find a plastic wad on any beach around the UK now!

I love lead, it's awesome stuff. Fantastic stuff. My water pipe is lead, never burst or cracked for 60years. Car batteries, lead, brilliant stuff. I love lead. Just weighted a moderator to aid off hand shooting of a rifle, I used lead. I love lead.

Send all your lead to me, I'll have it. Love lead me. ?

I'm all in favour of not using plastic wads in cartridges, beaches here you can always find them. Cases too, what was up with the old paper ones?

Its a voluntary ban anyway, so as long as your not supplying game dealers, and shooting for your own consumption, no problem!

This is going to be spread out to rifle shooters too I expect, the main thing that concerns me really is the cost of replacments.

I put a post on my lead casting in reloading if you guys could have a look and give input, Ta ?

I'm guessing no-one but Baldcoot has heard of the Scout's Guide. Here you go Gav. Probably won't save your life, but at least you'll die laughing:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Scouts-Guide-Zombie-Apocalypse-DVD/dp/B017RCMP0Q/ref=sr_1_1?crid=1FLLHZ03W6GGP&keywords=scouts+guide+to+the+zombie+apocalypse+dvd&qid=1583138659&sprefix=scouts+guide%2Caps%2C141&sr=8-1

PS avoid the trailer it's crap.
