UK to ban trophy imports

Recommended Posts

Mr Goldsmith said: “The fight against trophy hunting of endangered animals matters. It is clear that it is morally indefensible and that is why I am delighted that the Conservative Government will consult on a ban on the import of these trophies. By placing a higher value on animals alive rather than dead, we will begin to turn back the tide of extinction.”

Problem with that is they haven’t made the animals valuable alive, they’ve just made them less valuable dead. There’s a fundamental misunderstanding of how wildlife and humans interact there! But meh, ‘we’ feel good so f**k it...

Mate, don’t rise to it. He’s quite happy in ignorance. He’ll wax lyrical about the benefits of hare coursing for the hare, but fails to grasp the value of sport hunting as a conservation tool.

Man Utd getting twatted and you can still write decent ,sensible ,interesting posts ,good man .

You have to question the accuracy of a survey carried out in the 1800s mate.. not saying all large wildlife is not on the decline..it obviously is...but the biggest reason is overpopulation and habita

Will this include farm reared animals ? ..most of the “trophy” hunting is farm reared , once these get closed down the natives will soon put paid to the wild stock , it’s not trophy hunters feeding china’s insatiable appetite for quack rhino horn / tiger remedies and the back street ivory carving business....

Bloody hell that’s insane! Why would that even be an issue?

Basically because a dentist shot a lion and everyone predictably lost their f***ing minds. It is entirely ideological. Lion, stag, really what's the difference?

I'm a bit worried about my tahr 'trophies' I'm waiting to import. I was going to get one of them shoulder mounted, but now I'm feeling a little nervous of handing 1000 dollars to the taxidermist, waiting 12 months, only for the wheels to have turned and a ban passed. So f**k the shoulder mount, I'll just get the bits sent over asap.

Any fooker wanting to kill an endangered species or even those struggling want their heads looking at.

The argument of the money these kills generate don't resonate with me.

If they have 10k - 20k - 50k or more to kill an animal then they have it to donate to save these endangered species.

Heard you like trophy imports from Thailand :whistling:

If hares numbers were down t90% and they were struggling there is no way I'd advocate ' coursing ' shooting or hunting them in any way shape or form.

That goes for anything.

Its basic common sense.

Ah ‘common sense’ that brilliant alternative to evidence, facts and case studies.

Born you will never convince me shooting and killing any Big Endangered Wildlife is right .

For me it just isn't and if they have 50k to shoot dead a animal they have the money to donate to help save that species.

I’m making absolutely no effort to convince you.
