Lactic acid

Recommended Posts

As anyone got any experience with lactic acid in there dogs and if so is there anything you can give them to cure the problem. I am almost certain this young dog I am running now is getting a build up of it in his back legs on occasions. After a run on the odd occasion he comes back to me then starts limping briefly sometimes yelps out and has to lie down stretch his back leg or legs right out then he’s straight back up and ready to go again almost straight away.

What is he fed? potassium in some form added to his diet when he is running hard will help. There is potassium in tinned tomatoes but IMO not enough to sort out the problem your having.

He s fed a mix of dry food with chicken and tripe mince.

I had a dog that used to suffer with it a bit. Used to do daytime with him . I found feeding a broth or soft meal before working helped as well as muscle rubs and lead walks before and after. Atb Joe

deff  rub down before running, and rub down after running, if you remember  trig , i used to rub Buck down  before and after,  and used pull and stretch  his shoulders and thighs , to loosen them up , it deff helped Buck with shoulder injury he had as pup, it all helps , plus what  said on here with adding  potassium  to his diet , ask max on here  regards anything else that might help .
