I met a guy last week who had been part of a research team growing cannabis under licence, medical research funded by a pharmaceutical company, interesting guy, didnt smoke,at the end of the project the research was taken away and he hasn't seen it in print nor heard anything of the results since.

Bit hypocritical of the government but.....Just like the licence fee for a TV,pay the government and your fine

UK is world's largest producer of legal cannabis

The UK is the world's largest producer and exporter of legal cannabis for medical and scientific use, according to a new report from a UN body.

The UK produced 95 tonnes of legal cannabis in 2016, more than double the total of the previous year, reveals the UN's International Narcotics Control Board. This accounted for 44.9% of the world total.

The nearest competitor is Canada, with 80.7 tonnes.

Some 2.1 tonnes was exported from the UK, making it responsible for 67.7% of the world total, followed by the Netherlands (16.4%).

A drug policy reform lobby group has criticised the UK government, saying they have "consistently refused to allow medical cannabis in the UK on the basis that it has 'no therapeutic value'".

Steve Rolles, Transform's senior policy analyst said: "It is scandalous and untenable for the UK government to maintain that cannabis has no medical uses, at the same time as licensing the world's biggest government approved medical cannabis production and export market.

"UK patients are either denied access and suffering unnecessarily, or are forced to buy cannabis from the criminal market.

"Countries with proper access to medical cannabis do not have this problem, as standardised cannabis products are in the hands of doctors and pharmacists."

A significant part of the UK's legal cannabis production goes towards a cannabis-based medicine called Sativex, produced by GW Pharmaceuticals.

It is available on prescription for patients such as those suffering the effects of multiple sclerosis, but it is only on the NHS in Wales.

Alfie Dingley, aged six, is a British boy who suffers from a rare form of epilepsy, something his parents say can be treated with cannabis oil.

Alfie, from Kenilworth, returned from the Netherlands last month, where he had been receiving this treatment.

His parents want the Government to let him use the medication in the UK but it is banned.

Yea the kid was on the news and that amber Rudd says"I feel for them but there no scientific proof and we can't give out drugs that haven't been approved" the stuck up toffee nosed bitch would soon change that if it was one of her kids.

The parents should start a law suit against the home office for child abuse. The government are denying a treatment that gives that kid and his parents a better quality of life.

Utterly useless those c**ts in Westminster there duty is towards its citizens. Hope the parents continue to use it. There not a court in the land who would throw them in jail. I also hope a local dealer hearing of Thier plight sorts them out.

"Drugs" haven't been approved so why do the government allow under licence the growing of 10's of tons of cannabis each year,so much that we are the worlds biggest exporter of legal weed to countries that use it for medicine?

Cause there a shower of hypocrites mate and now apparently drug dealers lol

Harking back to the times when they peddled opium and turned a nation into addict's. Oh and went to war when the said nation tried to ban the sale of opium.

Tory drug minister Victoria atkins husband has a government licence to grow and is in partnership with GW Pharma  Havent see the story in mainstream media :whistling:

Tory MP tasked with regulating drugs has husband that grows 45 acres of cannabis

A Tory MP and drugs minister has been accused of “deception” by a pro-legalization pressure group after it was found her husband has a 45-acre cannabis farm.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Vulnerability, Safeguarding and Countering Extremism, Victoria Atkins MP, has come under fire over the revelations about her husband.

Campaign group Clear has revealed how the drugs minister, who fights against calls for the legalization and decriminalization of substances, is married to the managing director of British Sugar, Paul Kenward. One of British Sugar’s undertakings is growing cannabis seedlings for medicine.

Kenward’s company is in partnership with GW Pharmaceuticals, a UK biotech firm, which is developing an experimental treatment called Epidiolex, in order to treat severe forms of childhood epilepsy. However, his wife is strictly against drug use and a process of legalization and regulation in the UK. At least, in Parliament she is.

Are you surprised though? The UK is either the 3rd, 4th, or 5th largest arms dealer globally depending on which year it alternates. More than the Yanks who come in at 6th or 7th. Good luck buying springer over 12ftlbs without doing a stretch!
