I'm a long way from you over here on the Irish East coast but yes, that disgusting virus has made the rabbit near extinct.

The few pockets that are surviving are attracting lads who should be leaving the survivors to breed again.

Looking good so far, might be year we miss the myxi fingers crossed. Last year was bad less than , but defiantly seeing more healthy looking rabbits than this time last year.

joking apart now though, last few days, ive seen nowt, where once I could guarantee a bunny or 2 theres nowt doing, thing is, ive been offered a collie x greyhound pup, but the way things are at the mo, its on hold

There's a new strain of hemorrhagic disease, RHVD2 which is spreading rapidly. Even seeing pet bunnies with it because there's no immunity to it yet.

Same in south Yorkshire. Never been loads of rabbits but last season it looked liked they where making a come back in certain parts. But since easter time not seen many at all.

No, not man made. It's just a natural variant of the original virus that has developed. Just like say, the flu virus, can mutate/change over time the rabbit hemorrhagic has too. That sort of change/mutation is why the flu jab is annual in people, trying to keep up with the newest/strongest strains.

Hard to tell till the cover and crops are down, lots of rabbits will actually live in maize and heavy cover and can be hard to say until later. Mixi has arrived in the last few weeks though but it does most years and some will survive. The new disease is a bad but it has actually been around since the early 90's. Fingers crossed for a good year all round but sounds like it's slim pickings for quite a few.
